So beautiful and absolutely a must if you’re stopping by. The biggest issue was that it’s almost too popular with many passengers that end up obstructing the view and taking away from what would be a very romantic atmosphere.
We rode the Sagano Romantic Train before taking the Hozugawa River boat, which was a truly interesting experience. The beautiful train with views of the river alongside it was absolutely stunning. Highly recommended if you're visiting Kyoto.
Scenic ride through a dreamy tunnel of mountains and river views. Seats were comfortable and the slow pace made it perfect for photos. Easy redemption and well organised boarding. A relaxing highlight of my Kyoto trip, worth the price.
very convenient. booked the train from Saga to Kameoka. the saga station is just beside the JR saga arashiyama station, but you need abt a 1min speed walk to get over. we booked car 5 which was open (no windows, but has a shelter) and the view was amazing! (recommend booking odd seats and facing front for better view; although both sides have their good views). trains are every hour (.02 there, and .30 return), so we took the 10.02-10.25 train. spent an hour at Kameoka, then took the 11.30 train and alighted at Arashiyama (instead of saga) to walk thru the bamboo forest. very lovely area to explore!!!
Unfortunately, it rained heavily on the day of travel, but the ride on the Sagano Romantic Train was still unforgettable. The entire train crew bids you a sweet farewell upon departure, and the conductor tells you all about the route. There's a great little museum and café at the station, and all in all, the ride is highly recommended; the river and the forests are beautiful.
Fast and comfortable ride! The Nankai Rapit was a smooth, quick, and easy way to get from Kansai Airport to Namba. Comfortable seats, punctual service, and a great start to my trip. Highly recommend!
very memorable trip on this train ride passing by scenic locations and lush waters. the time spent taking this train was really worth it. it also lead us directly beside the entrance of the bamboo forest so we do not need to walk too long.
*Klook Booking:* - Fast and easy e-ticket (no need to exchange vouchers). - Cheaper than walk-in tickets. - Selected my preferred seat/time slot in advance. **Sagano Romantic Train Experience:** - **Scenic Ride:** Breathtaking views of the Hozugawa River, cherry blossoms (spring), and fiery autumn leaves. - **Open-air Cars:** Best for photos and fresh air (Book Car No. 5—no windows!). - **Charming Atmosphere:** Slow, peaceful ride with nostalgic vibes. **Small Cons:** - Limited departures—book early for peak seasons. - Can get chilly (dress warmly in winter). **Tip:** Pair it with a Hozugawa River boat ride back for the full adventure! **Verdict:** Klook made it effortless, and the ride was a highlight of my Kyoto trip. Perfect for nature lovers! Thank you.
The system is more organised nowadays. All passengers were seated accordingly and can enjoy the scenery better. Do buy your tickets in advance. We even enjoy the beautiful scenery going back to Umahori station.
I highly recommend the Sagano Romantic Train for your Kyoto itinerary to go along with the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. We decided to take the train from Torokko Kameoka station. If you’re early you can take photos with the spring blossoms as well as when the train arrives. There are souvenir shops there while waiting, or you can enjoy the scenery.
