What to expect
Houbi Common Woman Village, located on Jingliao Old Street in Houbi, Tainan, is a unique settlement that blends local culture and female empowerment. The village focuses on the "Common Woman Spirit," co-created by local women and young people. Through traditional crafts, agricultural processing, festive events, and community building, it showcases the rustic and passionate charm of the countryside. Here, you'll find classic nylon woven bags and rice-based creations, as well as guided tours, hands-on workshops, and mini-trip itineraries for visitors to deeply experience the warmth and vitality of rural Taiwan. Whether strolling through nostalgic streets, savoring local flavors, or participating in festive celebrations, it's a culturally enriching journey that touches the heart.

The staff are very passionate about Houbi, which makes people love this place. The DIY activities are fun, the staff are very patient, and the children really enjoyed it. 💕
The hands-on activity was a lot of fun, allowing us to experience how traditional red turtle cakes used to be made. After finishing, we could also wander around the filming locations of The Making of an Ordinary Woman.
Although the old street isn't long, it's quite simple and elegant. Making red turtle cakes is very interesting. For safety, dragon fruit juice is used instead of food coloring, and they're quite delicious.
The children had a great time, and while the old street didn't seem very crowded, it was inspiring to see people still working hard to revitalize the area, which made me want to support them. The staff were all very friendly. Even though it was raining, the kids had a lot of fun and were excited to share their experiences when we got home. Parking nearby was quite convenient, making it a great place to take children for an experience.
The DIY itinerary is great and suitable for both adults and children to do together. It's a shame there isn't much to explore nearby on non-holiday weekdays, but it's still highly recommended!
