- Zanhua, also known as wearing flowers or flower insertion, refers to wearing flowers made of fresh flowers or other materials on the head to enhance the wearer's beautiful image. It is a type of headdress in ancient China. During the Tang Dynasty, influenced by royalty and nobles, Zanhua developed into a common social fashion. The spread of Buddhism also promoted the development of Zanhua art, and the image of Zanhua ladies commonly appeared in Tang Dynasty paintings.
- Zanhua can enhance the beauty and temperament of women. Different flowers, Zanhua styles, and combinations of hairstyles and clothing can showcase diverse styles, whether fresh and beautiful or dignified and luxurious. On weekdays, Xunpu women use hairpins to style their hair and insert small flowers diagonally at their temples; on major festivals, they wear them as flower wreaths.
The簪花 (zān huā) headdress of the Xunpu women is associated with Quanzhou as the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road.
