Jinshanling Great Wall Full-Day Guided Hiking Tour

There is plenty of time! The tour guide gave a very clear explanation of the route! The itinerary is arranged to go up from the middle gate (Zhuanduankou) and down from the east gate (East Fifth Watchtower)! You can see the endless Great Wall! However, please be sure to wear non-slip shoes and check the weather forecast! Otherwise, it is really dangerous if you encounter rain and fog! Some slopes are very steep, and the step heights vary. One of the passengers in our group fractured a bone and had to be carried down the mountain by five people taking turns. The tour guide was very responsible in assisting with the injured person! This is one of the highly recommended sections of the Great Wall to visit when coming to Beijing!

Very nice experience! We arrived at the Jinshanling Wall at 12:00, took the suttle bus, bought some very good burgers near the main gate and start climbing. We started the trail from Zhuanduo Tower(10-15 min from main gate). From that to Small Jinshan Tower(where the cableway goes down) it took us just an hour with a really nice view and slow and relaxing pace(This is the new area of the wall). After that we continued to Flower tower for another great hour. From that on we saw the old part of the wall which is really beautiful, just a little bit steep(very nice) till East Five-window Tower(another hour). From that we came back to Houchuankou Pass and went down to the main gate(another hour).The Shuttle bus will take you at 17:30 so you have pleeenty of time(like 5h30') to see everything on the wall with a lot of stops, no need to rush, we took a lot of photos and videos and have enough time for enjoing the views and also to have a meal after, till we waited for the others to came back.

I absolutely recommend it! It was magnificent, with very few people towards the end of the East section. Our guide, Roberta, is great. It took us 2 hours and 15 minutes by bus from the second pickup stop to the Great Wall parking lot, and we arrived at 10:30 AM. Once there, I took the shuttle (20 yuan for a round trip), and from the shuttle drop-off point, it took me 3 hours to reach the last tower to the east (East Five Window Tower), starting my journey at Zhuandokou Pass. I then took 45 minutes to return to Houchuankou Tower, and another 30 minutes to descend to the meeting point. The bus departs at 4:00 PM, and the return trip also took 2 hours and 15 minutes. So, there's plenty of time to enjoy and take photos!

We had an amazing day at the Great Wall! The tour was well organized and we had a great driver who picked us up in time and drove us safely to our visiting point! Before the tour we had a good contact with the driver and the company to adjust to tour as we want. So we could start early and skip the crowds. There were just a few people on the wall and we enjoyed a quiet and stunning historic place. Thank you for that tour and for the good organization! Our driver did a great job, picking us up in time, bringing us safely to the Wall and showing us where to meet again.

Breathtaking experience up high on the Great Wall. Prefer this to Mutianyu as parts are more beat down and authentic. Also get nice panoramic views of the wall as it twists across the mountain tops. Lucy was a great guide. Very helpful and ran tour smoothly.

The tour is well organized from Ms. Susie who was our tour guide. Great place with great value. The sceneries is beyond my expectation, beautiful than photos plus the tourist was very very few. We did hiking go and back without cable car and we could observe how authentic, calm, magnificent, wild, well-preserved of Great Wall. This place is perfect for photography and hiking.

We were very impressed with our visit to the Jinshanling section. This section is beautiful, and there are actually very few people there. Our tour guide, Cindy, went to great lengths to provide us with information about the Wall and Beijing, even during the bus ride. The only downside was the long wait after the Wall until the bus departed; that could have been avoided.

So glad I booked this trip to Jinshanling. I was hesitant because it was a public holiday but there weren't that many people there at all because of the distance. This section is so beautiful. The scenery is quite different compared to Badaling. I think it is more beautiful and charming. I walked from the starting point all the way to the East gate. The last part is the original section that has not been restored and it was stunning. Our excellent guide Susie took great care of us and explained everything on the bus well. Our driver was also friendly and professional, he drove the bus with care. Thank you both for taking good care of us. Hope to see you all again in the future.

This is a great option for hiking Jinshanling w/o all the fuss of organizing transfers, etc, yourself or the expense of a private car. We were on a bus with two separate tour groups: we were the Jinshanling Hikers, they were the Water Town'ers. Our group was kinda beholden to the itinerary of the other group: so we didn't start hiking until just after 12pm, and had to finish by 5:30pm, even though the bus to Beijing didn't leave until 8pm, getting us back a very late 10pm. So, we used that time to have dinner at Water Town, while we waited. It can feel like an inefficient way to go. But on the other hand, having done this hike 20 years ago, there are a lot of small moving parts you have to figure out yourself if you aren't on a tour like this, and the headache isn't really worth it. Our guide Roberta was excellent, explained everything clearly, so that there was no stress, and we were able to just hike in peace, knowing everything else had been taken care of. A great (but long) day!! 😁

My tour to Jinshanling Great Wall was led by Roberta, it was well paced and definitely breathtaking. There was lesser crowd where we could take our time to enjoy the great sceneries. Overall good guidance and staff, but some waiting time is expected due to merging of another tour group at Gubei Water Town when heading back to Beijing city.
