The Origin of Sanying Hot Spring: He Xiangu, originally named He Sunu, was from Zengcheng, Guangdong. Legend has it that He Sunu was a famous medicine fairy. When she was thirteen years old, she went to Shirenling in Nan Kunshan (now Paitan Town) to collect herbs alone. She accidentally fell into a deep pool of misty spring water and fainted. When she woke up and climbed ashore, she found that she did not feel any pain. It turned out that the herbs she had collected had fallen into the hot spring and had a magical effect after soaking. Because He Sunu could identify various fairy herbs and medicines in the mountains and collect them for the nearby people, and could predict personnel affairs, the surrounding people regarded her as a god and respected her as "He Xiangu". He Xiangu often used the opportunity to see people for medical treatment to persuade people to do good and stop evil, as evidenced by the "Admonishing the World Song": "The wicked are feared by people but not by heaven, the kind are bullied by people but not by heaven; good and evil are clearly rewarded by heaven, far in descendants and near in oneself." Many people took the herbs she prescribed, and indeed all their diseases were cured, and they did good deeds and accumulated virtue after listening to her teachings. At the same time, He Sunu often advised nearby villagers to soak in that pool of hot springs to strengthen their bodies, cultivate their minds, and this custom has continued to this day. Later, people learned that there were three kinds of medicines that fell into the pool with He Sunu, namely: Dandelion, White Quartz, and Purple Quartz. Because each medicine contains the word "Ying", the pool was later known as "Sanying Hot Spring".
