Bernina Express Seat Reservation
- Due to construction work, the track between Poschiavo and Tirano will be closed from 1 to 3 April 2025, and between Pontresina and Poschiavo from 7 to 13 May 2025 (replacement buses available). Additionally, the track between Bergün and Preda will be closed from 3 to 17 November 2025, with the Bernina Express rerouted via Vereina (Chur - Landquart - Klosters - Sagliains - Pontresina).

The Bernina Express is a scenic train route that travels through the breathtaking landscapes of Switzerland and Italy. It is renowned for its stunning views of the Swiss Alps, picturesque villages, and dramatic mountain passes. The Bernina Express travels over 122 kilometres through 55 tunnels and over 196 bridges, offering impressive landscape appear almost within reach. It is the highest railway line across the Alps that connects northern Europe with the south. The line between Thusis and Tirano has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2008.

Luggage Information
- The luggage space available on Bernina Express is limited, it is recommended to travel with hand luggage if possible to ensure the comfort and safety of all passengers
Eligibility
- Children aged 0-5 can travel free of charge provided they will not occupy separate seats
- If children aged 0-5 would like their own seat, a seat reservation must also be made
- Children aged 6+ will be charged the same rate as adults
Additional information
- Staff is available for guests requiring disability assistance
- Passengers in the same booking will be placed together if possible, however it is not guarantee due to the limited seats available. In case where it is not possible to place all the passengers together, passengers will be placed separately in seats that are nearest to each other
- The direction of travel of the carriages is unknown, as the carriages can be attached to the train in both directions. When booking for more than one person, it is recommended reserving opposite seats
- The seat reservation remains valid even without a ticket. However, you must show a valid ticket, Swiss Travel Pass or Eurail Global Pass to board the train
- Due to construction work, the route between Thusis and Preda will be closed from 4 November 2024 (Monday) to 16 November 2024 (Saturday). The Bernina Express (PE 951 / 952) will be rerouted via Vereina (Landquart – Klosters – Sagliains - Samedan) during this period. The online timetable has been adjusted

useful tips: this reservation is to secure the seats in the cabin with panoramic windows. you will also need to purchase regular train tickets from other source. the scenery between Chur and Tirano is amazing. our family enjoyed this experience so much.
Booked the Bernina Express from Tirano to St Moritz. Before that I took the express train from Chur, both trips were Fantastic and must experience journey. Awesome picturesque landscape of Swiss Alps, glaciers and also able to witnessed some of the engineering marvels; the massive bridges and viaducts which made this trip possible. One of lifetime experience.
we really enjoyed our bernina experience. but i suggest you buy 1 way chur to tirano because everything is picture perfect. they let us go down at alps grum to take a picture without the windows reflection. you need to buy tix goin to chur because its not included in the package. i suggest you buy a separate swiss pass ehere you can use it in any bus, trains ,boat ang even museums. expensive but worth it!
enjoys by bernina express is nice experience but it must seat reservation for long time before. I suggest, must be seat reservation first then book your hotel in Chur city.
nice lovely scenic route, on board they give tea and a small chocolate souvenir if you book a seat. there are free seats without reservation, but if you’re coming from st Moritz, the best seats in the non reserved carriages are usually taken from passengers who boarded at chur
Seamless. Once u booked through klook, you will get your confirmed tickets through email within 24hrs. 2nd class is abit hectic when its full, therefore maybe can consider upgrading urself to 1st class for a more peaceful journey.
To and fro booked through klook, seamless. Less crowded and therefore more peaceful journey in 2nd class. View was breathtaking throughout.
