Had a lovely stay at Lumley Castle, our room was in the courtyard and had a lovely comfy bed. Delicious breakfast and very good value for money.

My only complaint is we didn’t stay more than one night. Brilliant staff. Accommodation perfect. Food fabulous. Also, the bar area was wonderful. Best glass of SV I’ve ever had in a hotel. Bliss!

I have used this hotel very often in the past But I was shocked how there Standards have dropped. The flood was very poor the service very poor. The lack of singning for there different areas none existent. The room very nice for normal users but for some disabled like me it was a night mare. There was a lack handrails in the shower the shower was fixed and did not detach from the fitted so was to high, Lack of places to put soap bags had to put them on the floor. The radiators were so hot they could not be touched. The wheelchair ramps although provided were not legal. Sorry I could go on got pages on how is this hotel this hotel should not be graded.and no I will never use it again. They are living on the fact they are a castle but forgot the required needs of its guests.

Staff were excellent. Room a lot smaller than expected. Bedding and en-suite very clean. Room in need of updating/decotation. Parking facilities were very poor.

Lumley Castle has a strong connection with my childhood home; Maltby Model Village, close to Sandbeck Hall, the residential home of the Earl of Scarborough and the Lumley family, who own Lumley Castle

We booked 3 nights in a classic castle room. This place is amazing, a real castle and fortification hundreds of years old. The walk to the room from reception involved many twists and turns with walls a foot thick. A lift will take you to the first floor but you need the grand staircase to get to the second floor. On the way you will pass many sitting areas and chairs in various nooks and crannies. The room was not huge, but big enough with a bath/ shower on a raised area from the bedroom floor. This place is an experience and the castle is steeped in history. The dining room is in the vaulted basement and is very atmospheric. Breakfast is superb. Help yourself to anything from the continental table in the room 2 doors down the corridor and choose your main breakfast from the menu which will be cooked to order. Very efficient with friendly and well trained staff. We ate in the restaurant on the first night. The choice is small but the food top class. The whole stay was a first class experience.
