Good
Good food. Helpful front desk. Good location to sites and restaurants. Better room ventilation needed with summer temps as room had 1 small window that opened with a 3-4 inch gap. Hotel did provide a small portable fan to use in the room.

Fantastic
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is ideal for visiting the Castle as it is only a short walk away. Parking is onsite but there is a charge. WiFi is free. The choice at breakfast is good and the rooms are comfortable.

Great
This property is perfectly situated in downtown Stirling. The staff were exceptional. The price was a little higher than our budget but, because of reviews, we chose it. The bathroom could use a little updating. We stayed in a suite in which the bunkbed room looked bigger online than it really was and the bunkbeds were a bit uncomfortable. The full bed though was extremely comfortable. The breakfast provided was standard Scottish fare and pretty good. The staff though really were the winners overall - excellent all the way around.

Hotel is located perfectly, parking is good but extra charge, gym and pool ok but extra charge, decor and carpeting is shockingly in need of updating, dirty and scruffy, in key places such as restaurant you see just how bad it is making you think about maybe just how well maintained the kitchen may or may not be ? Room was not cleaned and do left without fresh towels, despite asking for towels at reception before the end of the day we were ignored and so left unable to shower the following morning, no air conditioning or fans and so very uncomfortable in the rooms but the beds and pillows were excellent

Very clean room but decor needing attention, staff was friendly and helpful, not impressed about having to pay to park at the hotel was a let down, breakfast was nice, but a bit overdone in some items, overall nice stay but think a bit expensive 😀

The Sterling Highland Inn is located in a beautiful historic building that used to be a school. Further, it is very well located close to restaurants and only a few minutes walk (uphill) from Sterling Castle. The hotel is desperately in need of a renovation. Carpets are heavily stained, especially in the restaurant, or sun, bleached, in the hallways, and there is peeling paint at the windowsills and peeling wallpaper. Our room was poorly serviced prior to where our arrival. On checking in,there was a half eaten candy bar on the floor and the toilet was visibly dirty. Further, there was very little toilet paper on the roll. Our biggest complaint, and partially my own fault, was that I made two reservations for two rooms under the nonrefundable option. Even though I called Expedia in advance, and Expedia called the hotel, the hotel chose to stick with their policy. I get that. Upon our arrival, they could’ve offered us hospitality by doing something like upgrading our rooms or offering a comp dinner, but instead, they chose to put us on a floor with no elevator service, so that we had to carry our bags up. The final straw came when I was asked for a late checkout of one hour for one room. They said it would be an additional 10 pounds. The manager even adamantly refused and said it was their policy and that their system didn’t allow it. I asked him to simply use his walkie-talkie to ask housekeeping to not knock and he adamantly refused.
