After the best part of half a year of being confined to the same four walls, it’s no surprise that we’re beyond excited to get out and about and start adventuring again.
And while we might not be able to get out to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Space Mountain just yet, that doesn’t mean that we have to miss out on getting our rollercoaster kicks, all thanks to the (often overlooked, but always) fantastic selection of supreme rides that are right here in the UK!
And the best news is that you don’t have to take an eight hour flight to get to these adrenaline racing rollers! Nope, you just need to book yourself a ticket, and then get yourself there (which we can help with, by the way!)...
So without further ado, let’s get to the good stuff and let’s see which rides have made it into our rock n’ rollin’ rollercoaster round up!
Here’s our list of the best and fastest rollercoasters in the UK...

    Stealth

    Location: Thorpe Park
Description: Everyone knows why Stealth is no. 1 on this list, but we’re struggling to put into words ‘why’. Could it be that it propels you more than 200ft into the air? Yes. Could it be the fact that it takes you from 0-80mph in less than 2 seconds? Also yes. At the end of the day, the UK’s fastest roller was always going to feature in this list, but the fact that it has the brake horse power of not one but two Formula 1 cars, definitely earns the right to be in pole position. Start your engines, folks - this ride’s about to launch!
    Speed: 80mph
    Height: 62.5m

    The Swarm

    Location: Thorpe Park
Description: Just to be clear, The Swarm isn’t on this list simply because it’s the country's only winged roller coaster. No, no, no. I mean yes, its uniqueness does help, but it’s also the sheer thrilling creativity and quality of the scenery that contributes to a blockbuster experience! The Swarm is set in a post-apocalyptic world and takes you soaring through the debris left behind by an alien invasion! From bursting through billboards to ducking under the wing of a crashed plane before hurtling you past the steel blades of an abandoned helicopter, The Swarm is a thrill-ride like no other. Definitely one that needs to be experienced to be believed.
    Speed: 59mph (4.5 G Force)
    Height: 38m

    Dragon’s Fury

Description: Curveball, but we believe that Dragon’s Fury is fully deserving of its place in the top five. It’s a classic coaster in so many ways, but its unpredictability makes it endless entertainment. It’s not the tallest or the fastest, but the Dragon’s Fury is a great group event that’ll send you twisting and turning in every possible direction, and each time is a little different depending on who you go on it with and who sits where! If sheer brute speed is your bag, then Stealth is your go-to, but if you’ve got a soft spot for the classics, then Dragon’s Fury is right up your street!
    Speed: 48mph
    Height: 15m

    Oblivion

    Location: Alton Towers
Description: OK, so we know that this isn’t a newie - in fact, it’s practically an oldie! - but it’s still a goodie! Pioneering for its time and still just as addictive today, Oblivion is no. 4 on our UK round-up and for 3 very good reasons! It’s not the fastest, but at 68mph, it still packs a solid punch! With the perfectly positioned pause before you plunge 180ft into a black hole of the unknown, It’s one of the most nerve-jangling rides around. And if that wasn’t enough, when it launched in 1998, it was the world’s first vertical drop rollercoaster! Speedy, smart and still so much fun - Oblivion just had to be on the list!
    Speed: 68mph  (4.5+ G-Force)
    Height: 60m

    Colossus

    Location: Thorpe Park
Description: With not one, not two, not three...but TEN inversions, Colossus really is a giant of the rollercoaster world. As the world’s first ten-loop roller, there was always going to be big expectations on Thorpe Park’s beast. But with a vertical loop and a double corkscrew, Colossus was always going to deliver. Sending you high and low throughout the Lost City, including through an underground trench, Colossus will have you wide-eyed and open-mouthed the entire time!
    Speed: 44mph
    Height: 30m
