After months of uncertainty, we’re happy to see that the UK is slowly starting to get back to a new kind of normal. Things are still changing, and likely will be for a while, but slowly, steadily and surely, the UK is starting to open back up and from landmarks and galleries to restaurants and theme parks, we’re getting the chance to rediscover a lot of what we love most.
And the most exciting bits of news we’ve had recently is the reopening of some of the UK’s biggest and best theme parks, including Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures!
These are the types of places that put a smile on people’s faces and fill childhood summers with memories that will last a lifetime, so we’re so happy to see them opening back up!
But we also know that a lot of people still have concerns about what’s safe to do and where, so we wanted to make sure you had all the latest information to help you make the decision that’s right for you.
So, here’s a summary of the health and safety measures that have been put in place at two of the UK’s most exciting theme parks to make sure it’s safe for you to visit...

    Chessington World of Adventures:

    • The park, zoo and resort re-opened on 4th July (in-line with Government guidance)
    • The majority of the rides and outdoor attractions are open, although some indoor facilities do remain closed for now.
    • The park has re-opened with a significantly reduced number of visitors
      • To support this, all visitors, including Annual Passholders, are required to pre-book a ticket online for entry
    • The park has implemented a range of hygiene and safety measures to protect you and its employees, including:
      • Checking the temperature of all guests on arrival
      • Asking all guests to maintain a safe distance between households
      • Reducing contact by ensuring empty rows and empty seats between people on rides
      • Modifying interactive play areas to make them safer
      • Requiring face masks to be worn on most rides (Vampire, KOBRA, Scorpion Express, Tuk Tuk Turmoil, The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure & Tomb Blaster, SEA LIFE) as well as at all gift shops and selected food and beverage outlets
      • Adding hygiene screens at a number of the resort’s restaurants, food outlets and shop counters.
    • The resort hotels have also reopened with a reduced number of bookings, which is in-line with their attraction capacity numbers
On top of this, Chessington are also making it clear that if a visitor, or a family member, displays any symptoms of COVID-19, that they postpone their visit, and rearrange it for a later date.
So there you go - that’s the latest on how the UK’s theme parks are making sure that you’re as protected and as safe as can be so that you still get to enjoy the rest of summer 2020!
