You can visit Platform 9¾ at Kings Cross Station, you can go on a Harry Potter walking tour around the streets of London, but for true Harry Potter fans there’s really nothing like a visit to Warner Bros. Studios to immerse yourself in the Harry Potter film set and to see where all eight films were created.
‘The Making of Harry Potter Studio Tour’ will allow fans of the films to wander through the meticulously designed film sets and experience the otherworldly magic that went into creating the universe that J.K. Rowling so lovingly committed to the page.
What can you expect from the tour?
The tour will begin in the exact spot all of it began for Harry; in the Cupboard under the Stairs where he slept for the first 10-years of his not-so-fun life with the Dursleys. From there you’ll be able to explore the famous sets, from Diagon Alley and the Great Hall to Dumbledore’s office and Hagrid’s hut - all while learning insider film secrets from your official Warner Bros. Studio guide. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, you’ll also get the chance to jump on a broomstick and live out your ultimate Quidditch fantasy.
What surprises most people on this magical Potter tour is the intricacy of all the props, from the uniqueness of every wand to the detail in every magical creature. A favourite for most visitors is getting up close and personal to Hogwarts Castle, where the real magic happens. The castle is so huge that it takes up an entire room and can be viewed from the first floor and ground floor - watch out for the castle’s changing colours as the set turns from day to night and the lights come on inside the castle; it really is magical. Then there’s the wonderful costumes that help to bring your favourite characters to life, right before your very eyes.
How to get there? (Unfortunately magic isn’t an option!)
Warner Bros. Studio is just on the outskirts of London, which means that there are a few options available to you, so you can choose the one that suits you and your travel companions the best. However, if you ask us the best way to get to ‘The Making of Harry Potter Studio Tour’ is to travel by bus. And when we say bus, we mean a Harry Potter-themed bus with free WiFi and Harry Potter movies on board - it’s not quite magic but it still sounds pretty great to us. The best thing about getting the bus is that it’ll be ready and waiting to pick you from the following stations; Kings Cross, Victoria, Baker Street & Paddington, and it will drop you off right outside the studio.
