What to expect

Embark on a bus journey from Salta towards Tren a las Nubes, with three scenic stops en route to San Antonio de los Cobres where the train awaits. Along the way, indulge in an Andean country breakfast and browse through a crafts fair. As you leave Salta's colonial architecture behind, the landscape swiftly transforms into picturesque red plains and majestic mountain peaks reminiscent of a Spaghetti Western. The first stop occurs in Campo Quijano, providing a glimpse of the C-14 line you'll later explore. The next stop is at Viaducto del Toro, a bridge nestled amidst mountains with a flowing river and occasional mist, creating a captivating photo opportunity. Finally, you'll visit the town of El Alfarcito, where you can immerse yourself in the local culture at a craft fair, savor a country breakfast, admire Andean architecture, and perhaps even spot llamas. The highlight of the journey is the awe-inspiring train ride from San Antonio de los Cobres to La Polvorilla viaduct. This remarkable passage carries you across a bridge suspended 63 meters above the ground and soaring at an altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level. While peering down might evoke some nerves, the memory of crossing the magnificent Viaduct of Polvorilla will endure a lifetime

nice views, excellent transfer, god guides, but too much time in the bus, too few and too short stops, poor snacks and insufficent translation in English.
