It’s summer so the lotus are in full bloom. The grounds are well taken care of. The park is very lovely and the old buildings are something to behold. It’s like taking a trip back in time to over 100 years ago. The price is not bad. It is a self-guided tour. A nice way to enjoy nature, a little hike and tranquility. ease of booking on Klook: very easy experience: very nice facilities: restrooms, restaurants, etc. price: 900 yen per adult
Don't miss this place if you're in Yokohama. The gardens are well-kept with lots of great photo spots. The highlight for me is the main pond where you can feed fishes and ducks. They also have a cafe inside where you can get snacks (loved the ice cream). Klook made it so easy to book our admission tickets so you can scan your QR and proceed straight to exploring.
A slightly further travel out of Yokohama destination which we both throughly enjoyed. This garden was tucked away from the bustling areas which gives this whole experience a nice getaway from the noise. Garden was beautiful with friendly little cats around 'guarding' the place. A tea shop situated in the centre of the garden for whenever you need a break and enjoy a nice little japanese treat or a meal. Would 100% come back again!
I enjoyed this garden! I was also lucky to see Mt. fuji on top of the observatory by the pagoda! also saw cherry blossoms and so many places to take a photo. highly recommended. You just need to take a bus from negishi station or sakuragicho station.
Incredible views. There were also people taking, what I believe were, engagement photos that gave the experience a different vibe. Really want to go on different seasons.
serene garden. incredibly peaceful with lots of wildlife and history. recommend getting here for opening before the tours arrive!
One of the most beautiful and peaceful garden in Japan. Pretty big, you can spend maybe fifty minutes or one hour there. I recommend!
Such a beautiful garden with a lot of preserved buildings moved in from Kyoto. We were there for sakura season and it was so pretty!

Guide

  • Sankeien Garden contains many historical houses and buildings that are recognized as culturally significant by the government
  • The entire garden was once the private home of Tomitaro “Sankei” Hara
  • Yokohama "Sankeien" where you can enjoy various flowers blooming throughout the year
  • From late March to early April, the cherry blossoms (sakura) are in full bloom. In July and August, there is a pond just inside the entrance that is bursting with the beauty of thousands of Japanese pink lotus blossoms
  • In late autumn, you can enjoy the changing color of the leaves. In winter, plum blossoms (ume) start to bloom in mid to late February
  • What draws the most attention from visitors is the old pagoda on the hill and their reflections in the pond

Sankeien Garden is a Japanese-style garden located in Sankei-en, Honmoku-Sannotani, Naka-ku, Yokohama. It was created by the industrialist and tea master Tomitaro Hara and features 17 historic buildings, including 10 that are designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan and 3 that are designated as Tangible Cultural Properties of Yokohama. The garden is designed to harmonize with the natural terrain and features rolling hills, ponds, and a variety of plants. The Sankei Memorial Museum, located within the garden, houses a collection of materials and artworks related to Sankei-en and Tomitaro Hara, with new exhibits rotated approximately once a month. The museum also includes a traditional tea room where visitors can enjoy matcha tea and a shop selling Japanese-style goods and sweets. In addition, there are three tea houses within the garden where visitors can try Sankei soba noodles and other sweets invented by Tomitaro Hara
