What to expect
The Korean Folk Village gathers various buildings such as farmhouses, temples, aristocratic mansions and government offices from all over South Korea, reproducing the cultural landscape and regional customs of the Li Dynasty on the Korean Peninsula more than 500 years ago. There are 240 traditional buildings in the village, including the "yamen" of the Li Dynasty, prisons, mansions of high officials and nobles, simple houses of the common people, shops and workshops, children's playgrounds and so on. Most of the goods in the shops and open-air markets in the folk village are local traditional handmade products and foods with unique flavors, such as wooden carvings, painted paper fans, national costumes, and colorful porcelain. There are more than 60 kinds of porcelain, all of which have high preservation value. There are many kinds of food in the folk village, the most popular among tourists are vegetable cakes and rice wine. There are wonderful performances on the open field every day, such as folk dance, acrobatics and drum music of the villagers, which is very lively. The villagers here wear the clothes of the ancient Li Dynasty, interpreting the customs of the ancient villagers, and the etiquette of marrying the bride and sending the dead to the ground are truly modeled after the Li Dynasty.

Reviews
The guide contacted us one day prior to the tour, everything is well organised and as planned! When we found out the cultural show was only at 12pm and supposed to meet at 12pm, the guide extended the tour a little for us which I’m grateful! It’s highly recommend!!
The day we came to the village, we can literally count the number of visitors. Maybe is due to the cold weather. We got plenty of time to roam around, visited the museum and understand the village. If you want to skip the hassle of going there by your own (transferring from train to bus) , book this tour. The driver will drive you to and fro and admission fee is included. Its hassle-free. 👍🏻
The tour guide and driver, Ms. Chae Youn Lee is amazing. After booking this trip, she reached me to confirm this reservation. Also, she sent me the message about her bus plate number and location ( myung dong subway station exit 2). During the trip, she explained about this tour briefly. We used the exclusive bus line from Seoul to the folk village. It was quite quicker than we expected. It was about 45 minutes. After we arrived in the folk village, she gave us the map and the free time to look around. The good part was performances- Korean traditional music (11:30) and Korean folk dances (11:00). We saw many different houses for the different regions. Also, we saw the small museum and the courthouse. It is very interesting to see those in real. After we came back, Ms. Lee took the photos of us. Also, she checked if we have any problem or questions during this trip. She really took care of us to make comfortable. I really recommend this trip to the other foreigners to have the Korean folk villages.
It was good. It's pretty much a self-guided tour with transportation of a local driver. You basically just roam around on your own within 2 hours. It's an cool place to visit, but also you can skip this for other more interesting places.
Went during winter time, and the village was really beautiful when covered with snow. But the downside is that most of the workshops and performance are likely to be unavailable during winter, so it's better to visit during other times of the year and to spend a day there since the place is quite big.
Enjoyed the place. Our driver was very nice and accommodating
Went during winter and all the attractions and shops were closed due to the cold. Recommend to go during autumn and you can play the entire day there. Overall, it was an good experience with the performers and to see how they live in the Joseon dynasty.
very interesting. good place to see how the people used to live in the olden days
Quite an empty place and not much shops are open. Theres an amusement park with free rides. Overall I think this could be a miss as it's similar to other temples/palaces. The performance is around 20mins. The lake was beautiful. Generally it's quite pricey for a half day tour and in comparison to other tours.
The folk village it’s self opens at 10:00am but the staff don’t get to any events or stalls until much later 11:00am - 11:30am which makes this trip that ends at 12:00pm pointless for people who want to get involved in these things. Also the staff look away when your foreign and approach the craft stalls or sit on there phones didn’t really sit well with us. Maybe the afternoon would be better but this shouldn’t have to be the case. If you want to go for an empty photographic few hours then this trip is perfect.
