When folks think of swanky hotels in Hong Kong, the usual suspects come to mind - The Ritz Carlton, St. Regis, Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, The Peninsula, Rosewood and the like. But there's another cracking option that often gets overlooked: The Upper House from The House Collective. Now, I know it's a bit of a cliché to call a place your "home away from home", but as soon as I walked in, I was hit with this lovely aura of chic, homely luxury. The Director of Guest Experience, Edward, and the Guest Experience Manager, Sébastien, gave me a warm welcome, all smiles even though they were masked up. We had a lovely chat about what we'd been up to during this whole COVID malarkey. Then Arthur, another guest experience chap, escorted me to my room and gave me the grand tour. He was an absolute delight, sharing all sorts of top tips for my stay. He even let me in on his favorite cocktails at Cafe Gray Deluxe - the "Earl Grey Martin" and the "Pocket Money", both of which were bloomin' fantastic, fresh and zesty. Shame the restaurant's under renovation at the moment, I was really looking forward to that. Anywho, I lucked out and got upgraded to a spacious harbor-view studio, all decked out in a smashing contemporary and wood-y design by André Fu. Even though most of the hotel facilities were shut due to the pandemic, I was well sorted with the telly, movie system and the Maxi Bar. Proper cozy, that. The room had all sorts of lovely little surprises too - my favorite fruit waiting for me, and a magazine with an interview of one of my favorite actors, Eddie Redmayne. I was well chuffed, as I'd never mentioned that to them. Reckon they must've had a proper look through my social media. Some might see that as a bit invasive, but I reckoned it was a ace way to show they'd gone the extra mile. The dinner at Cafe Gray Deluxe was top-notch. The steak tartare and short rib of beef were to die for - so tender they melted in your mouth. The chocolate banoffee tart was a real treat too, all chocolatey and crisp. The pasta was a tad disappointing, could've done with a tweak to the tomato sauce. The bartender, Ken, was a proper gem as well. Made me some wicked cocktails, including his own creation called "Bubble Waffles" - really impressed me, that, even though I don't know a thing about mixology. Sadly, my follow-up booking for a belated birthday dinner got canned due to tighter COVID restrictions. Gutted I couldn't tuck into any more of their delicious grub. The next morning, we had a cracking breakfast at Cafe Gray Deluxe, with a stunning view of Victoria Harbor. The smoked salmon scrambled eggs were spot on, though they could do with expanding the menu a bit. Time flew by, and before we knew it, it was time to check out. The director, Edward, was an absolute gent and offered to drive us to get some famous egg tarts from Bakehouse in Wan Chai, even though we couldn't actually nab any after queuing up three times. Top notch service, that. It's been over a month since I checked out, but the impeccable service is still stuck in my mind. The staff here aren't like those overly eager types you find in some other posh hotels - their hospitality just seems to come so naturally to them. I'll definitely be back for another stay!

The view of the hotel is very recommended. The room layout is very attractive. The staff at Kaiyang are also very friendly. The breakfast included in the package also has many choices.
The breakfast food at the hotel is good, but the dinner is average. The hotel environment is comfortable, you can eat at the mini bar in the room, and it's good to stay in the room and rest.
The room is clean and comfortable, the staff is polite and helpful, overall it's very good! Will choose again next time and introduce it to others
