Reviews
great service by the operator. they are able to provide based on your needs. nice simple buffet lunch. included bottled drinks. free pick up was provided from our hotel nearby which i believe is because we have senior citizens in the group.
The tour was subcontracted to another company and it was a large group. The boat turned back to the jetty after leaving to pick up some passengers. You’ll need to pay RM 50 per person to enter the Mabul Water Bungalow, mainly for photo taking purposes. There was not much coral or fish while snorkeling at Mabul. You will not be able to go up to Kapalai as it is a private resort.
Absolutely crazy day. Both bohey dulang trip & mabul kapali was organized by same team ( UC islanders adventure ). They are absolutely the best. Even though I was disappointed that the Mabul bungalows fee was not included. its 50 rm, I was very much satisfied as we visited it for around 2 hours and skipped the last snorkeling session. I needed to fly my drone. I could have done it from the bungalow reception which is free to visit. but I paid and entered. We had to customize the time that we wanted to spend on the bungalows. and team crew managed to do it for us, even though it was against their tour plan. A huge thanks for that
So lucky to have Riri's help, today's snorkeling trip was a success. We saw a Komodo dragon on Mabul Island and even bought a big lobster. The snorkeling here is great, lots of sea turtles and fish.
We love this tour as Kapalai island and Mabul Island both has crystal clear water, lots of fishes, many turtles. there are two western went there for diving, one tour guide followed the two of them. Total four of us in a family, another tour guide take care of us. he led us to three snorkeling sites, as he is very familiar with the places, we can always see very beautiful sea life and fishes. If just snorkelling by ourselves, we sure missed a lot of scenes. Big thanks to our tour guide.
The itinerary was very attentive and the dining place at noon was clean and comfortable. The tour guide gave very detailed explanations. Unlike other itineraries that were very compact, it also provided plenty of time for snorkeling. Compared with other itineraries or other island hopping itineraries, it was very fun and highly recommended.
Great experince and saw many collected cubic corals and colourful fishs and not forget turtle at Kapalai snorkling. Mabul Resort entrance fees per person $30 ringgit. Not include in the pacakges. unless you stay on island or on boat. no swimming allow on resort. Lunch on the resort entrance area. not inside. Buy some seafoods from Sea Bajau people before heading to Kapalai. Bargain more 50-60% discount as they inflat the price more than half, go for pairing purchases and choose live lobsters. they more survive than sea Sari Crab. At Kapalai more nature corals and by luck meet with turtle.
There were only 4 of us, and only I snorkel, the rest dive. Unfortunately it was raining quite heavily when we got to Mabul island, so the water was quite murky. I didn't get into the water bungalows tho, I didn't think it was worth it. The corals in Mabul are not really natural, they were planted, it was still nice, just not as nice as the natural ones elsewhere. The second snorkeling spot was in Kapalai island area, and that was a very good spot. It was also raining when we got there, but it wasn't as murky as it was in Mabul. Pretty clear water actually. The third spot was at Panglima Reef near this island that we had our lunch at. It was a good spot as well despite shallow water due to the tide. Guides from the office to the boat were all friendly, and they can speak English, Malay, and Mandarin (the ones on the boat). Lots of Chinese national tourists here, definitely makes things easier and smoother with them. I'd recommend for the 2nd and 3rd spots for snorkeling, but you can't skip Mabul anyway, so might as well enjoy it
We managed to snorkelling at Kapalai and visit at Mabul island. We didnt pay for the Mabul island water bungalow as the boat not stop at the water bungalow jetty which we stop at another jetty of another resort. And instructor brings us to walk around the Mabul island of course the water bungalow excluded. Kapalai snorkelling is nice, manage to see big fish, sea eel and turtle. He is kind and helpful.
very good experience. a must do when in Semporna. the reef is beautiful something you can see just snorkelling without having to dive
