Additional information

Other Reminders

  • I. Tibet Travel Permit Application (Foreigners, Overseas Chinese Tourists)
  • Foreign tourists must apply for a Tibet Travel Permit, and submit the required documents at least 30 days in advance for processing; without a Tibet Travel Permit, it is not possible to purchase tickets to enter Tibet by plane or train.
  • Detailed Rules for Handling Tibet Travel Permits:
  1. Review period: Please allow at least 20 working days for official review. When applying, you need to confirm the departure city for entry into Tibet.
  2. Required documents: Foreign and overseas Chinese tourists must provide clear scans of their passports and valid Chinese visas; tourists from visa-exempt countries do not need to provide visa documents.
  3. Supplementary materials for special visas: Family visit visas require additional proof of family visit; M-type business visas require proof of employment in China.
  4. Please provide accurate and complete information when booking: name, gender, ID number, nationality, and contact information. The guest shall bear all losses incurred due to incorrect information submitted by the guest.
  5. II. Potala Palace Reservation and Visiting Instructions
  6. During peak season, visitor slots for the Potala Palace are limited, and travel agencies have a restricted number of group reservations available daily. To ensure smooth entry, travel agencies will book tickets through multiple channels. Due to restrictions imposed by ticket channel rules, please cooperate with the tour guide's arrangements. The following situations are all considered normal arrangements:
  7. Members of the same group may be split into multiple smaller groups, or merged with other unfamiliar tourists to enter the park for visits.
  8. Different groups will be assigned different visiting time slots, and may also be arranged to enter the park on different dates.
  9. Each group enters for a visit led by a different tour guide.
  10. For some special ticket types, tour guides cannot accompany visitors into the museum. We appreciate your understanding.
  11. The visiting time for the Potala Palace is randomly assigned by the Potala Palace Management Office, and guests cannot specify a visiting time. The actual tour sequence may differ from the reference itinerary.
  12. III. Age requirements for joining the tour and accompanying persons
  13. Minors under the age of 18 participating in the tour must be accompanied by at least 1 paying adult throughout the trip.
  14. Tourists aged 70 (inclusive) and above participating in a group must be accompanied by at least one paying guest aged 18-69, and sign the "Tourist Commitment Letter"; please assess your personal high-altitude adaptability yourself.
  15. IV. Plateau Risk Warning
  16. This itinerary passes through high-altitude areas, with a maximum altitude of 5190 meters, making it very easy to experience altitude sickness. Common symptoms of altitude sickness include: headache, shortness of breath, insomnia, and body fatigue.
  17. Individuals with severe heart disease, high blood pressure, lung disease, severe anemia, severe colds, and pregnant women are not advised to register for this trip. Please do not conceal your personal medical history.
  18. 2-3 days before entering Tibet, ensure adequate sleep and avoid staying up late. Tourists who are prone to altitude sickness can take Rhodiola in advance; during hot seasons, take as needed, and stop immediately if you feel unwell.
  19. On the day of arrival in Lhasa, it is recommended to rest quietly in the hotel; try not to take a bath on the night of arrival to prevent colds from inducing pulmonary edema and worsening high altitude sickness. Do not engage in strenuous exercise, drink alcohol, or smoke when first arriving at high altitudes.
  20. For mild altitude sickness, prioritize rest. If you experience persistent severe headaches, vomiting, or difficulty breathing, please inform your tour guide immediately. If necessary, use oxygen or seek medical attention in lower altitude areas; severe altitude sickness is life-threatening. Most tourists can gradually adapt to high altitudes after 1-1.5 days.
  21. In high-altitude areas, please slow down your pace, drink plenty of water, and eat an appropriate amount of fruit; carry high-calorie snacks such as chocolate and jerky; people with weaker constitutions can prepare American ginseng to replenish their energy.
  22. V. Dress Code, Hotel, and Local Travel Tips
  23. The diurnal temperature range on the plateau is extremely large. In high-altitude areas such as Mount Everest and Namtso Lake, night temperatures in summer can drop to 0-5℃. Please prepare windproof and warm jackets, hats, gloves, and non-slip shoes. The ultraviolet radiation on the plateau is strong, so please take precautions against sun exposure.
  24. The hardware conditions of hotels in Tibet are not as good as those in inland cities. Some hotels do not have elevators and may not provide disposable toiletries. Hot water mostly relies on solar energy, so 24-hour constant temperature hot water is not guaranteed, and network conditions are not promised.
  25. When going out in the evening, it is recommended to go with companions and inform the tour guide in advance.
  26. VI. Religious Customs and Driving Instructions
  27. When visiting temples, please dress respectfully; photography is prohibited inside the halls, please do not step on the threshold, and please respect local religious and folk customs.
  28. Tibet is vast, and the driving time on some sections of the road may exceed the sightseeing time. Please be mentally prepared in advance. The driving duration marked on the page is only an estimate and will be affected by speed limits and road conditions. The actual situation will be based on the on-site conditions during the trip.
