What to expect
The Jungyo Sumo Provincial Tour offers a rare opportunity to experience Japan’s national sport up close outside the Grand Tournaments.
Spend a full day immersed in authentic sumo culture, from morning training sessions where wrestlers prepare in the ring, to official bouts featuring divisions from Makushita up to the elite Makunouchi.
Unique to Jungyo events, visitors can also enjoy special performances such as comic sumo, folk songs, taiko drumming, and traditional demonstrations. The highlight of the day is the powerful Yokozuna ring-entering ceremony, followed by intense top-division matches and a ceremonial closing ritual, delivering a deep and memorable insight into sumo’s 1,500-year history.



Good to know
- The tour will only operate if the minimum number of participants is met (Nagano: 2 people; Osaka and Yokohama: 6 people each). If the minimum is not reached, you will be notified in advance and offered either an alternative arrangement or a full refund.
- Seat locations and seat numbers cannot be selected in advance. If you wish to be seated together as a group, please indicate this at the time of booking.
- Entry to the venue requires an original paper ticket, which will be handed to you by the guide on the day of the tour.
- Large luggage, including suitcases, is not permitted in the seating area and must be stored in advance at coin lockers or your accommodation.
- Some venues do not have elevators and require the use of steep stairs.
- Wheelchair access and assistance are not available, and we are unable to accommodate wheelchair users due to venue restrictions.
- Please note that entry to seating areas may be temporarily restricted during ongoing matches, official speeches by the Sumo Association, ring-entering ceremonies (dohyo-iri), Yokozuna processions, or ritual performances. In such cases, guests will be asked to wait until the current event has concluded before being seated.
- All guests aged 4 years and above must have a valid admission ticket. Lost or misplaced tickets will not be accepted, and replacement or re-issuance is not possible.
