Good to know
- Walk slow and steady, especially above Manang, to avoid altitude sickness.
- Always do an acclimatization hike in Manang (Chongkor Viewpoint or Ice Lake) before crossing Thorong La Pass.
- Start very early (around 4–5 AM) on Thorong La Pass day for safer weather and firmer trails.
- Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol at high altitude.
- Carry warm layers, as temperatures can drop below freezing near the pass, even in peak seasons.
- Use the upper trail via Ghyaru and Ngawal for better mountain views.
- Keep some cash, as ATMs are limited after Manang.
- Weather can change quickly—listen to your guide’s advice at all times.
