Miyako Island: Stargazing & Tropical Jungle Night Tour

Many thanks to Ken-chan for providing us with an unparalleled experience! Our family of three signed up for this tour, which included round-trip transportation! There were about seven or eight other people in our group, mostly Japanese! It was clear that everyone shared a love for insects and stargazing! Our guide, Ken-chan, is a very professional and handsome guy! He also speaks English! He led us to see plants, small lizards, geckos, butterflies, spiders, cicadas, coconut crabs, stick insects, and praying mantises on Miyakojima, providing very detailed and thorough explanations! In the latter half of the tour, he took us stargazing. We saw the Summer Triangle in the Northern Hemisphere's night sky, and the moon and Venus were incredibly close! The sky full of stars was beautiful! Ken-chan also took time-lapse photos for each group that signed up. If you come to Miyakojima, you absolutely must sign up for this tour; it will definitely create wonderful memories!

We booked a night tour with hotel pickup and drop-off! The guide arrived at the hotel entrance right on time! Our guide, Yuri, spoke excellent English. Unfortunately, we saw fewer species than usual because it was right after a typhoon. But thankfully, the starry sky was beautiful! We even saw a coconut crab! Our group only had five Chinese people, so communication was very smooth, and we spoke English the whole time! We learned that coconut crabs have different colors on different islands due to their varied diets! We also saw Japan's largest spider! Yuri's photography skills were excellent!

I participated in the jungle tour with my 5-year-old daughter. Our guide, Kenta, was very enthusiastic in his explanations. He spoke in easy-to-understand English, based on Japanese, so I was able to explain things to my daughter. It was also a great experience to be able to directly touch and interact with animals that are hard to see in Korea, such as lizards, stick insects, and coconut crabs! Haha.

It's a wonderful trip.I had an amazing time tonight and stargazing tour in Miyako Island! The guide was patient and professional. We successfully spotted coconut crabs in the wild, and the starry sky here was absolutely stunning . This trip was totally worthwhile, highly recommend it to all visitors!

We had a wonderful day with our guide Ken under a sky full of stars :) He enthusiastically took photos of us under the pouring starlight, haha. We even saw two coconut crabs, and he kindly explained every plant and insect, taking lots of pictures for us! From the moment we got in the car to the moment we returned home, it was so much fun! Ken is the best, haha, seriously! Ken is better than anyone else, hehe, thank you!

Choosing the hotel transfer service was truly excellent value! The lady who picked us up was incredibly kind. We had forgotten our child's shoes at the restaurant, and she went out of her way to call the restaurant to confirm and then drove us there to retrieve them (so much gratitude!). The tour itself was also very interesting. The night tour allowed us to learn about local plants and insects (there were many insects!). Our guide was very enthusiastic and professional, providing detailed explanations for every insect and plant we encountered. The luckiest part was that our guide caught three coconut crabs! We had so much fun watching and taking pictures. I highly recommend this to everyone visiting Miyakojima! (Just a heads-up again: there are lots of insects! 😂)

the night tour was a fantastic experience. Definitely recommend to someone who loves nature and wildlife. Ken San and Misaki San are kind and friendly. We had great time.

Our guide, Ken, was very kind and explained everything well, from spiders to lizards, and even found a giant coconut crab for us. We also saw many small coconut crabs. I was with my boyfriend, but it was cute to see the children in our group looking on with such curiosity. It was a great experience that I'd love to do again with my own child someday. The final Milky Way viewing spot was also incredibly beautiful. I only regret not bringing a tripod; I could have taken some amazing photos with the Milky Way in the background.

I was very worried about whether the tour would be possible because it rained from the day before until the morning, but fortunately, the rain stopped before the tour, so it went relatively smoothly. Overall, it was an excellent tour! Thanks to our guide, KEN, we were able to see coconut crabs and experience the Miyakojima ecosystem in depth. The guide communicated well and was very passionate! I highly recommend it! If you come to Miyakojima, I definitely recommend adding this to your itinerary!!

I wholeheartedly 'highly recommend' this tour. From the very beginning, I felt confident because they arrived precisely on time for pickup. During the tour, I lost track of time as we discovered various insects, including coconut crabs and lizards, and the guide provided fascinating explanations. The guide's English proficiency was far superior to that of typical hotel staff, so communication was never an issue. Furthermore, thanks to their enthusiastic efforts in taking amazing photos that I'd call 'once-in-a-lifetime' shots, I was able to create many cherished memories. This tour was extremely satisfying due to its well-planned itinerary and the kind, professional guide. I definitely want to use this service again in the future.
