Trekking information:

• Difficulty level: The hike is challenging because of the high altitude and steep sections
• Distance covered: The hike is about a 14 km (8.7 mile) round trip and generally takes around 4-6 hours depending on your pace and fitness level
• Highest altitude: 5,200 m (17.060 feet) at the summit
• The best time to visit is during the dry season from May to September when there's less rain and clearer skies
• Altitude sickness is a concern due to the high elevation; therefore, spending a few days acclimatizing in Cusco or a similar altitude before attempting the hike is strongly recommended
• To minimize risk, stay well-hydrated, maintain a light diet, and avoid alcohol prior to the trek
• Horses are available at an additional cost for rental from local villagers along the trekking route to Rainbow Mountain
• There are basic toilet facilities at the start of the trail and near the summit
