Takamatsu Setouchi Triennale day trip bus tour
This summer-only bus tour will take you to three locations, Shido, Tsuda, and Hikita, newly added to the Setouchi Triennale 2025.
-Shido Area
Shido is an area with a charming townscape from the Edo period, centered around Shidoji Temple, the 86th temple on the Shikoku Pilgrimage. It once flourished as a key transportation hub between sea and land, and local specialties such as oysters and paulownia sandals were produced there. It is also famous as the birthplace of Hiraga Gennai, a genius who was active in the mid-Edo period.
-Tsuda Area
"Tsuda no Matsubara" is a scenic spot that has been selected as one of the "100 Best Beaches in Japan," and was planted in the early Edo period as a windbreak for Iwashimizu Hachiman Shrine. It has beautiful white sand beaches and black pine forests, and old pine trees over 600 years old stretch for 1 km. It is also famous as one of the best swimming beaches in the prefecture.
-Hiketa Area
Hiketa developed as an important port for ships travelling through the Seto Inland Sea, and with ships calling from all over the country, logistics flourished, and the brewing of soy sauce and sake flourished. Specialties include "Hiketa yellowtail," which is raised in Hiketa, known as the birthplace of yellowtail farming, as well as gloves and wasanbon.
