What to expect
The charm of Cang'er pottery is long, and the intangible cultural heritage is passed on by fingertips; kneading clay to shape various forms, and the tile cat is hidden in the palm of the hand
- When the fingertips touch the clay with the moisture of Erhai Lake, I was surprised that this is not a simple handicraft class, but a cultural handshake spanning thousands of years! The intangible cultural heritage inheritor's fingertips flew, and in a few strokes, he kneaded the iconic "wide mouth swallowing square seal" of the tile cat, and explained while saying: "The ears should stand up like tiger ears to suppress the wind evil!" It turns out that each pattern is the wisdom code of the Bai ancestors - the fish's feet pattern hides the philosophy of "water and fire complementing each other", and the back pattern of the Eight Diagrams implies the universe view of yin and yang balance. When I carved the first knife by hand, I suddenly realized: I was not making pottery, but kneading the Bai people's sun, the wind of Cangshan Mountain, and the waves of Erhai Lake into this ball of mud
- Compared with the Internet celebrity check-in shop, this place is more like a secret cultural adventure. When we in the city are used to "fast", we understand the power of "slow" here - slow enough to knead a ball of clay carefully, slow enough to listen to the old craftsman tell "why the tile cat must show its teeth" ten times, slow enough to let the wind of Erhai Lake blow away all the impetuousness. If you want to take away not a souvenir, but a memory with warmth, feel, and story, come here - let the claws of the tile cat gently scratch the soft layer of culture and craftsmanship in your heart
- If you are tired of "I was here" check-in, you must come to Dali to do a handmade work. Here, time is not an enemy, but the best assistant - slow down, wrap the wind of Erhai Lake with tie-dyed cloth, retain the snow of Cangshan Mountain with clay, and carve the moonlight of the Bai people with wood. When you leave with your handmade creations, you will suddenly understand: Dali’s romantic scenery is never a distant landscape, but a gentle mark that can be held in the palm of your hand, worn on your body, and hidden in time.
* The magic of Dali, even the small objects made casually, can become the shining stars in your memory.

Location: The sign isn't very obvious, so don't miss it. Service: Exceptional. Polite, gentle, and provides detailed guidance. We weren't very good at crafting the roof cat fridge magnet, and the staff patiently helped us from start to finish, spending almost 4 hours including waiting time, without a single complaint. The experience is well worth it; you can feel the craftsmanship culture of Yunnan art. Overall, a fantastic experience! Highly recommended! In addition to a variety of craft experiences, many places in the store reflect the owner's dedication! It's a very meaningful store.
Didn't want to try tie-dye because it seemed a bit too technically challenging, so I opted for the small square scarf dyeing experience~ It was a lot of fun 😄 After dyeing, while waiting for 20 minutes, it's nice to browse the other items for sale in the store and check out the shop's displays~(o^^o) If you have the chance to come to Dali, you really shouldn't miss it! (There are multiple craft experiences to choose from)
really enjoyed it here. She really help me alot and made sure I was well equipped and helped me when needed.
