Affected by seasonal sunset times: In winter, take the cable car to enjoy the night view; in summer, the sunset is later, so when taking the cable car, you will mostly see the sunset or twilight.

  • From the car, you can see the Kanmon Bridge, the strait, and the ships coming and going.
  • Stroll leisurely through the old streets of Mojiko Port, admiring the European-style retro architecture and port scenery.
  • Walk through the red torii gates of Motonosumi Shrine, which extend all the way to the sea, making it convenient for photos and check-ins.
  • In the evening, take the cable car to the summit of Mt. Sarakura to see the summer sunset or night view, with a particularly wide field of vision.
  • Enjoy direct private car service to attractions throughout the journey, no transfers needed, making the trip easy and worry-free.
  • Combining photography, delicious food, and scenic views, the pace is comfortable, perfect for a leisurely experience.

What to expect

Explanation of Motonosumi Shrine Visiting Hours: From March 1st, the main hall of the shrine will be closed for worship on Saturdays, Sundays, Japanese national holidays, and during the periods of May 2nd–10th and August 8th–16th; the red torii gate area along the coast can be visited as usual.

This is a one-day itinerary that combines "sea views + gourmet food + shrine + night views," starting from Hakata, allowing you to easily visit popular attractions in Yamaguchi and Northern Kyushu. With a dedicated car for the entire round trip, there's no need to transfer yourself, making the trip more hassle-free.

In the morning, you'll pass by the Kanmon Bridge for a car view. The bridge scenery spanning the strait, combined with the passing ships, creates a vast panorama. Afterward, you'll arrive at Karato Market for free activity, where various fresh seafood and sushi are gathered. You can browse and eat, choosing freely according to your preferences, making it a relaxed and engaging stop in the day's itinerary.

In the afternoon, head to Motonosumi Shrine. The red torii gates lined along the coast extend all the way to the cliff edge, creating a strong visual impact. It offers both great photo opportunities and a wonderful sea view experience. There's ample time to stroll and take your time.

In the evening, return to Northern Kyushu and ascend Mount Sarakura. Take the cable car up the mountain, and from dusk until nightfall, witness the city lights gradually illuminating. Overlooking the entire night view is the highlight of the entire route. Note: Sunset times vary with the season. Both the sunset and night views are equally spectacular, and we look forward to your visit!

The overall pace is comfortable, not rushed or tiring. You can enjoy local specialties and capture iconic scenery, making it suitable for first-time visitors to this area who wish to efficiently visit multiple classic attractions in one day.

Whether you come for a photo or for a wish, Motonosumi Shrine will always give you a deeper impression than expected. After you leave, you will repeatedly recall the scenery where red and blue intertwine.
Mojiko is not a place for you to rush through and check off your list; it's a place where you can take your time, walk slowly, look around, and let your days unfold like a page of prose in a journey, with a touch of nostalgia.

Red bricks + railway tracks + a few people, this is just the unique charm of Mojiko. When taking photos, it's recommended to use a low angle to make the entire building appear taller and more vintage.

Connecting Honshu and Kyushu is this white bridge spanning the strait. Looking out from the seaside at Shimonoseki, the bridge resembles a quietly unfurled silver ribbon, creating a vast landscape between the sky and the sea.
Mount Sarakura at sunset offers both an open view from the mountaintop and a sight of the city and the sea. In summer, it gets dark late, so you can finish watching the sunset and then wait for the night view to light up, satisfying two experiences at onc

The process of the lights gradually brightening and the sky gradually darkening in the evening at Mt. Sarakura is particularly comfortable. Standing on the mountaintop and watching all of Kitakyushu slowly light up is very suitable for relaxing.

Review for: 【Weekday Special】Mt. Sarakura Cable Car & Mojiko One-Day Tour

Jimmy Liu was one of the most funny and entertaining guides we’ve had during our Fukuoka trip, it was a fantastic time with Jimmy and our trip up to Kitakyushu! To provide a better context Kitakyushu is quite up north from Fukuoka and each destination would take 1.5-2.5hrs (which can be challenging for young children who are more restless). The rides were long but the views were amazing. We had enough time to enjoy each place, especially at Mojiko Port where we got to experience wonderful grilled Japanese curry! The rest of the destinations were beautiful and scenic. I do recommend this trip if you are looking to enjoy the natures and wonders of Kitakyushu!

I loved this tour from Klook. It was a great way to discover something new and visit very Instagrammable places. We went to all the places on the itinerary and were always on time. Kevin was our tour guide, and I can honestly say he was the best! He was very friendly, cheerful, kind, and always smiling. I highly recommend both him and this tour. Until next time :)

A huge thank you to our tour guide, Selina! She gave us a detailed introduction to all the day's attractions at the start of the tour. Throughout the trip, she kindly pointed out worthwhile sights and delicious places to eat. She took meticulous and thoughtful care of each member of the group. The schedule was also well-managed, and she even recommended great places to eat, shop, and explore near the station at the end. Thanks to her, we had a very fulfilling and wonderful day! 😃

This itinerary was comfortable. Although each leg of the journey to the next stop was two hours, it was also the most efficient. If you plan to eat cheese curry rice in Mojiko, one hour might not be enough time. The other two stops had sufficient time. Our female tour guide, Jia Chaoqing, was very nice and approachable; we felt comfortable asking her any questions.

The itinerary was well-arranged and the service attitude was excellent. Our tour guide, Mr. Zhang, provided bilingual commentary in both Chinese and English simultaneously, and managed the pace of the trip perfectly. It's a shame that Mount Sara was foggy with poor visibility, but I highly recommend this tour!

Our tour guide, Selina, was very responsible. The bike ride was a bit long; I suggest adding another activity or attraction along the way.

Review for: 皿倉山夜景一日遊

The weather was unstable that day, and it rained continuously from the start of our trip to Moji Port. However, this wasn't the main issue. The problem was that we were in a small bus, and combined with the winding mountain roads, many in our group got sick. I think a larger vehicle would have been better. The rest of the itinerary was great. Our tour leader that day was Ms. Jiang Jing, and she was incredibly friendly and punctual. She reminded us about the trip two days in advance and promptly answered everyone's questions. She's fluent in Chinese, English, and Japanese, so there's no need to worry about not understanding. She was also very thoughtful and concerned about my family member who gets motion sickness. When she wasn't sitting with the main tour guide during some parts of the trip, she still took great care of my family member, allowing us to continue our journey with peace of mind. However, I personally felt the Karato Market part of the itinerary was a bit rushed (and honestly, I wouldn't really recommend going; we only saw a few rare sashimi cuts, and the sushi rice was really not good). The night view from Mount Sarakura depends on luck; we actually got a better view of the night scenery on the way down the mountain. Thank you, Ms. Jiang, for giving us a wonderful day!

Ada was professional and friendly, and the itinerary was fun. However, the travel time was a bit long. I would participate in this type of tour again if I have the chance.

Our tour guide, Xiao Wang, was incredibly thoughtful! I forgot to bring Japanese Yen, and he helped me out by exchanging it for New Taiwan Dollars. He also kindly took photos for me, as I was traveling alone. I'm so grateful!
