What to expect

Du Fu Thatched Cottage is located at 28 Caotang Road, Qingyang District, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, 3 kilometers from the city center and approximately 25 kilometers from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. It is the largest memorial site for the Tang Dynasty poet saint in the country, a national first-class museum, and a national 4A-level tourist attraction. The cottage covers an area of 200,000 square meters and is known as the "First Holy Land of Chinese Poetry History." It is famous for bearing witness to Du Fu's residence and creation of over 240 immortal poems, including "My Thatched Roof Was Torn Apart by the Autumn Wind." With its thatched eaves and bamboo shadows, clear streams, and a forest of poetry steles, the inscriptions from the Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties engrave the vicissitudes of poetry history. It is revered as the "spiritual origin of Chinese literature and the cultural watermark of Chengdu." It is often said, "Without entering the gate of the Thatched Cottage, one does not know the soul of Tang poetry," which shows the immortal glory of the poet saint's feelings in the inheritance of civilization. The hall houses treasures such as the Ming Dynasty engraved edition of "Ode to the Thatched Roof," a bronze statue of Du Fu, and tens of thousands of volumes of poetry classics. The garden fully demonstrates the perfect combination of poetry, gardens, and history. Book now through KLOOK and enjoy the best discount tickets!
