The train's style is very retro and unique; you can feel its age, but it doesn't come across as dirty or old. The overall maintenance is excellent and very clean. The conductor was also very friendly. Midway through the journey, the train stops at a small station, allowing everyone to get off and enjoy a fun musical performance by the station master. The scenery along the way is also incredibly beautiful. Anyone visiting Kumamoto should definitely experience this train ride at least once.
