What to expect

When it comes to tricky hikes, sticking to the path is the best advice any outdoor adventurer can give you. That's the case with India Venster, another uncharted region nestled within the world-famous Table Mountain in Cape Town. It can get dangerous so it's best to make sure you're fit enough to brave this conquest, smooth or rough trails. Start the hike from your departure at the Lower Cable Station up the India Ravine. The trek begins about 50m to the right of the lower cable wagon station on Table Mountain Road, where it will take you to a contour path for a good 15-20 minutes before arriving at the India Venster section. Scramble up rocky outcrops as you walk up towards the knife's edge. Once you've reached the narrow ledges, you've already accomplished a great deal of an ingenious queue through imposing cliffs with spectacular views of the Capetonian vistas with cable wagons flying overhead. Look back onto the white sands of Cape Town's iconic beaches and the glimmering swells of Table Bay. Get a 360-degree view of surrounding peaks and the city below. Enjoy some time and many photo opportunities on the summit of the 7th Natural Wonder of The World, before catching the cable wagon down.
