What to expect
The dishes comprising Vietnamese culinary repertoire are easily recognizable yet perplexingly difficult to define. Its culinary tradition employs rich coconut milk reminiscent of Thai cooking, French baguettes and pâté, Indian curries, Chinese five spice, soy sauce and fish sauce, asparagus, and fermented tofu ingredients thoroughly disparate that combine to render creations distinctly Vietnamese. In order to make sense of this complex cuisine one must delve deep into the country’s history, culture, and geography – elements that have shaped Vietnam’s rich culinary legacy. At the Provincial Table, we strive to more than guide guests through a series of recipes. The market tour and cooking class are designed to more than simply guide guests through a series of recipes

It was a very good experience. The instructor was excellent at explaining the different dishes and how to cook them. I especially enjoyed the shaking beef; it was truly amazing. The menu was slightly different from the one posted online, so I assume the dessert changed. Everything else was the same. We cooked the pho, the shaking beef, and the spring rolls.
Levi, our cooking instructor was superb. He was so entertaining, shared so much information, and was really very engaging throughout the entire class. He was detailed about the ingredients, the steps, safety. The dishes we cooked were delicious. The entire set up was neat and clean. Strongly recommend Provincial, especially Levi.🥰
It was such a fun course, we got alot of the lessons, even being of Vietnamese decent . our instructor had alot of character, a great bubbly personality. the vibe of the course was fantastic with everyone from all different parts of the world. I thought it would be an okay course but it turned out to way better then I had anticipated. we got a booklet at the end with all the instructions provided.
Did the market tour + cooking class and didn’t regret choosing this option. The market tour not only showed us what ingredients they use and where it came from but also gave us suggestions on where we could buy it (great for people wanting to bring home the exact spices used in the class). The cooking class was very interactive and had a good instructor that didn’t rush us when we struggled with some steps. The dishes we made were also really delicious and it was so cool that each student had the chance to flambé the meat we used for the salad. Would recommend for those wanting to learn more about Vietnamese cuisine or maybe for those who simply want to have fun while eating good food🫶
This is a must try when visiting Vietnam. Glad we did visit the market and to learn ingredients that will be use later. I enjoyed how they help us to navigate the prepation of the food we created. The best thing is eating the foods!! Best experience
Absolutely loved this class. We met at the market where we were given a quick tour and were shown herbs and vegetables and an explanation as to how there are used. Afterwards, we got in a car and went to the class location. On arrival were offered a delicious welcome drink and got to choose a work station. The ingredients were covered and neatly displayed in a clean environment . Step by step the chef gave us detailed instructions on how to prepare each dish. Her sense of humor and welcoming attitude was an added joy. We made 3 delicious dishes and were given fresh yogurt for dessert and a small cookbook.
Really enjoyed this and recommend this! Brian made us and our group feel very comfortable. It was good to tour the market in another light. very informative. The class was easy to follow even for us beginners! Don’t eat beforehand as you will eat all that you cook!
went for a market walk first at Ben thanh market. Guide An shared with us in details about the type of stores and ingredients that were available at some stores. thereafter, we proceed to the studio and made 3 dishes 1/ Mango Carrot Salad 2/ Bun Cha 3/ Chicken Pho. She guided us step by step and it was a very filling meal! One point to improve is perhaps to have the chef be in the middle of everyone as she's teaching. as my group was large but the teacher was slightly far.
Best Vietnamese cooking experience at HCMC! We started the day with a visit to Ben Thanh market where we were introduced to local fruits, cooking ingredients and coffee. After the short tour, we traveled to the cooking school. On the day I visited, we made mango shrimp salad, chicken pho and bun la lot (grilled betel leaves). The instructor was lovely and the class was very well run!
location was easy to find. the experience was amazing and we had a great time. only 6 of us on the day. our session was at 10am. PLEASE don’t eat breakfast as the portion size was massive. food was delicious!!
