Landmannalaugar Small Group Day Hike with Hot Spring Bathing

Hike into Landmannalaugar, the geothermal heart of Iceland’s Highlands, where rainbow-colored rhyolite mountains, steaming ground, and a natural hot pool sit at the start of the famous Laugavegur Trail. From the Landmannalaugar campsite, you’ll hike about 4 hours and 8 to 10 km (5 to 6 mi) across the Laugahraun lava field and Vondugil canyon, then climb Brennisteinsalda mountain to see its sulfur vents and multicolored slopes. The descent follows Grænagil gorge, named for the green rhyolite lining the trail. Finish with a soak in the natural hot pool beside the lava field. Bring a swimsuit, towel, lunch, and warm layers.
