Hui Xin’s approach to drawing and the creative process is very intriguing and thought-provoking. In today's fast-paced world, where we are constantly bombarded with information and stimuli, his deliberate choice to slow down and embrace a repetitive and unpassionate state is a radical departure from the norm. What is particularly interesting about his approach is his focus on drawing objects that are related to his own life and imbue his work with a sense of authenticity and emotional resonance. The use of a centimeter by centimeter square drawing technique is also enthralling. By breaking down the drawing process into small, manageable units, he is able to focus on each individual square and instil it with meaning and significance. This slow and methodical approach undoubtedly slows down the completion of the picture, but it also allows him to engage with the process of drawing in a deeper and more meaningful way. Hui Xin's drawings can be seen as a critique of the current state of the social norm, which places a premium on speed, efficiency, and constant stimulation. By embracing the slow and deliberate process of drawing, he is able to create work that is deeply personal and meaningful, and that stands in stark contrast to the constant stream of information and stimuli that we are exposed to through social media and other forms of technology.
