Exhibition Introduction

𝘏𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶 is the second of the Fill in the Space Joint Exhibition Series which showcases the works by Dave Chow and Michele Chu from 18 December 2021 to 16 January 2022.
Their works in the exhibition has an overarching theme of uncertainty, and plays with the dichotomy between tension and comfort, as well as danger and safety— Dave creates installation and mixed media works to present his excitement and fear towards societal uncertainties; Michele’s works revolve around the themes of body and trauma, marking past & current events with tangible rhythms of the body.

Dave Chow
Participating artist Dave Chow graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in 2015. He is especially interested in objects and the physicality of materials. His works display and distill his everyday experience through appropriating, transforming and assembling readymade objects and images.
He held his first solo exhibition, “Switch on the Television When the Sun Sets” during the artist in-residency program in Experimental Sound Studio, Chicago. His works were also exhibited in various exhibitions, including “The Nest” (WURE AREA, Hong Kong, 2021), "10 Years of ASP” (Fu Lee Loy Shopping Centre, Hong Kong, 2021), EQUILIBRIUM” (Foo Tak Building, Hong Kong, 2018), “Observe / Scrutinise / Perceive” (Gallery Exit, 2018) and “again and again” (common room & co., Hong Kong, 2018).
Michele Chu
Participating artist Michele Chu graduated from the Royal College of Art & Imperial College London with an MA/MSc in Global Innovation Design, and Pratt Institute with a BFA in Communications Design (Illustration).
She is passionate about exploring intimacy and human connection in her works, specifically the interplay between sensory elements and space, to amplify the emotional connection between individuals. Her works contemplate what makes us human, through mediums such as multi-sensory installations and street experiments, amongst others. Her works have received news coverage in publications including The Huffington Post, The Telegraph, and have been shared on global platforms such as TEDx.
