For centuries, Husavik residents have embraced the region’s geothermal waters for bathing and daily life. In the mid-20th century, drilling for household heating unexpectedly uncovered mineral-rich hot seawater instead of freshwater. Though unsuitable for heating homes, locals found an innovative use for this natural resource.
