I purchased the MTR Tourist Day Pass for my kids and it was a great decision. The pass made traveling around Hong Kong simple and stress‑free, and it saved us money compared to buying single tickets for every ride. My sons were able to explore more places without worrying about fares, which made their trip more enjoyable and fun.
I bought the MTR Tourist Day Pass for my son and it turned out to be very convenient. It’s much less expensive compared to paying per ride, and it allowed my kids to explore Hong Kong easily. The pass made their trip more fun and hassle‑free since they didn’t have to worry about buying tickets each time. Overall, it was a great choice for sightseeing and moving around the city.
First time to experience seamless transfers without worry of available load balance. Need to tap at entry and insert upon exit. It's so worth it. Went to Tung Chung for the Citygate Outlets, short visit to Disneyland, Central mid-level escalator, Causeway bay for Fashion walk and tram ride. Lastly ended the day at Mong Kok for hearthy meal at Dim Dim Sum.
This is how the MTR Tourist Day pass (24H unlimited in all MTR lines except the East Rail or light blue line going to China) is used: Tap going in, insert upon exit unlike the regular octopus card which is tap in tap out. This is definitely worth it as we were able to explore HK from Disneyland <pic taking only as we were done with Disney last year> all the way to the other end - Hong Kong Museum of The War of Resistance and Coastal Defence just the entire day with lots of other attractions in between!
This MTR day pass is a definite must and was perfect especially if you are able to activate the 24hr validity for later on in the day. Since we flew in later at night our passes were valid until 8PM the next day and we were able to use the MTR freely all day to explore. I do want to say that this is not applicable for all the public transit options in Hong Kong and you will still need to buy an Octopus card to use on non-MTR buses/minibuses etc. It was also a bit difficult to find where and how to obtain the actual cards since the airport staff where also unsure but just make sure you are showing the MTR confirmation email to MTR customer service staff and then they will help you redeem your day pass.
If you’re planning to do a speed run of the attractions in Hong Kong, then this pass is a must purchase. I was able to maximize my time as I don’t have to worry if I’m running out of octopus card credits or how much is the fare from and to this place. Redemption is also easy; you can pick up the card at the airport or like what I did, picked it up in Hong Kong Station Airport Express counter. Do note that the pass is valid for 24hours so, if you activate it on 11PM on a Monday, you can use it until 11PM on Tuesday. it was very convenient, remember to tap it in when going inside the turnstile then insert it when leaving the station. we were able to use it when traveling in far places. we only used it in trains, we never used it in the bus though it was included.
This is helpful and cost-effective if you will frequently use the MTR. Easy to redeem as well. MTR is very efficient and reliable mode of transportation.
This ticket is valid for 24 hours (from the time of entering the station to the same time the next day, not limited to the same date). If the place you go to on the same day requires more than five subway rides (note that some routes + Airport Express are not covered), it is a good choice! It just so happens that I used this ticket to go to many places this time, and I don’t have to calculate whether Octopus needs to be topped up~ Using this subway ticket to take the subway + Octopus package is a very practical self-service travel plan!
The card is convenient to use. It can be used on all MTR lines and buses. It can be used all day. It is convenient for people who travel all day. No need to pay extra. Buy it and then exchange the coupon at the airport train counter.
