Stepping out of Tsuchozaki Port and into Shodoshima's "Maze Town," a labyrinthine district that dates back to the days of pirates, the Yokai Art Museum quietly awaits me in a quaint corner. Inside the wooden warehouse, I'm guided from the origins of yokai to the modern era, listening to the poetic narrative of how "Yokai are fear, comfort, and culture" – from the spiritual views of the late Heian period to the entertaining yokai of the Edo period. The museum, spread across several old houses, is not just a stage for yokai exhibitions, but also a resonance of culture and imagination. Wandering through it, I realized that the yokai here are not meant to scare, but rather to reflect the depths of the human heart and its warmth.
Advantages: 1. The exhibits are all very beautiful (the kappa is my favorite, what a handsome guy >V<), the pictures on the left and right are so varied, and the lighting makes Lidu look very distinctive. 2. It feels like an adventure, just grab the map, put on the headphones, and listen ( Mandarin) The guided tour is suitable for one person to have an adventure. 3. The three areas are not very big, but the walking tour is interspersed with ups and downs. It has special disadvantages: 1. Although wi-fi is provided, it is difficult to connect to the app for explanation. It’s not a good deal (even if I use my own data, it’s the same) 2. The monster items sold in the store are not very attractive. I only bought the two monsters on the left (kappa and tengu). I want both. TAT PS: If you don’t know about monsters If you are interested, I won’t recommend it^^
Very convenient, buy and use immediately, cheaper than buying on-site. The Yokai Art Museum has 4 exhibition halls. The art museum displays many monster sculptures. The Kawasho Naomi Art Museum is just a small exhibition hall with many paper crane artworks. If you have time on Shodoshima, you can come and visit.
It’s an interesting experience. I picked up Mihe headphones in the lobby and used the mobile app to visit at my own pace. The exhibition hall is distributed in several huts in the town, and the instructions in the middle are clear so you don’t have to worry about not finding it.
The Shodoshima Monster Museum is divided into several exhibition halls. Just follow the instructions and go there. You have to enter a password to enter. There is no time limit. You can see a lot of fairy items. It’s so interesting.
This is my first special experience. It’s an immersive experience. It’s all self-service. There are very few people and no queues. There are Chinese translations and Mandarin voices. It’s easy to understand the meaning behind the exhibits in the museum.
Very good, several museums are scattered, I couldn't find the direction at first, but I slowly got used to it. Monsters are also a kind of imaginative art🎭, recommended
It is cheaper to buy on klook than buying at the site. Recommend buying before going to save money. And the museum inside is with air con so it is cold. Suggest bringing children to go
