What To Expect

As one of the most venerated Buddhist sites in Taiwan, the Fo Guang Shan Buddhish Memorial Centre cannot be missed. You are greeted by a colossal Buddha statue upon climbing the stairs towards the centre. One of the most fascinating aspects of Fo Guang Shan is that it is home to a relic of Gautama Buddha, the founder of the Buddhist faith. On leaving the temple, the surrounding cluster of lively stalls selling souvenirs and scriptures is well worth a roam. After an afternoon at Fo Guang Shan, cool off by the Cheng Ching Lake, with scenic sights all around such as the chateau of one of Taiwan's former presidents that looks over the waters, and Phu Quoc Island situated within the lake. Make sure to walk across the Bridge of Nine Turns to get breathtaking views of Cheng Ching Lake and its surroundings.

This was going to be my first time taking the THSR once I arrived in Taiwan so naturally I was a bit anxious about getting to the correct place to meet my tour guide. The night before my tour, my tour guide gave me a call to solidify where and when we were meeting and that reassured me that everything would be okay the day of the tour! My tour guide was so considerate and really helped me understand the history behind the places we were visiting. Lunch was on our own but my tour guide and I ate together at the vegetarian buffet and it was amazing! We were able to do everything on the itinerary and even had a bit of spare time to see some sites near the THSR where he was going to drop me off. After I arrived back home, my tour guide gave me a call to check to see if I arrived home. I'm so grateful to have met such a wonderful tour guide for my first day tour in Taiwan! It was a memorable start to my trip.

1/5 stars for Klook but 9/5 stars for our tour guide mr Wang. Klook, no one knows what constitutes the Fo Guan Shan museum and the monastery. You better highlight that very obviously on your front page if you want to see the big sitting Buddha, you better not go on a Tuesday. We made a trip down to the city just to see that and you’d imagine our disappointment when we couldn’t even go in. The saving grace of the tour was our excellent tour guide Mr Wang. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He went all out to make our tour comfortable and went the extra mile to assist us in translation during lunch time and even dropped us off at the night market after teaching us how to return to our hotel.

The driver, Charlie, was professional, friendly and helpful throughout the trip. We booked for FoGuangShan tour but it was closed when were there. We were disappointed why we were not informed when we made the booking. Charlie immediately called his company n came up with alternative plans. Although disappointed but we had no choice either. The credits should go to Charlie for ensuring us the alternative would b good if not better. We did had a wonderful tour visiting places we hv not heard. Hope Klook will look into this and hope it will not happen again. I believe Klook should check the opening dates of each attraction to avoid making yr customer feeling disappointed again. Nonetheless pls help me to thank Charlie for his good job done.

Really a nice place to visit. ... Especially just after Chinese New year holidays, there is fireworks at night, lighting, lantern displays and performances. Kids will love to be there as being in a mini Disneyland.

Great architecture and great smiles from everyone you meet! A walk around makes you feel peace and there are a lot of Buddhist workshops from time to time. Fell free to have a visit even if you're not a Buddhist, many guarantees that you won't regret it!

This is a working monastery with lots of male and female monks. There are many wonderful temple buildings and lots of steps - you have to walk up to many different levels to see everything but it is well worthwhile. Alongside the steps ate lovely flowers - different shades of bougainvillea and other tropical plants. In the main building near the top there are 3 superb brass Buddha statues. At the bottom, near the parking, there is a pretty pond with statues and flowers. To one side, high above the parking area, there is an impressive standing Buddha statue which is worth the walk if you have time. Usually visited along side the Buddhist centre which is also very scenic.
