This was one of the best tours I have been on and so comprehensive learning about what led up to the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, and how it affected both Herculaneum and Pompeii. Our guide, Fredo, was excellent. He answered all of our questions and was so knowledgeable about the area and how the eruption solidified these two towns in time. He was great at explaining the similarities and differences of both the towns back in 79 A.D. and the ruins/excavation/preservation of both sites to this day. Fredo also pointed out all of the best aspects of what is so significant about the ruins and highlighted the artistry of the architecture and art throughout the city in the various mosaic and frescoes. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone interested in learning about the history of these two towns. Just make sure to bring water and things to cover up (sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, etc.) as the day we went was sunny and hot.
The location to redeem your physical tickets is near the Pompei Scavi Villa Dei Misteri station. Search for "IBT POMPEI International Bureau of Tourism" on Google Maps. After showing your QR code to their staff, you can collect your physical tickets, a guided map, and an audio guide device (multiple languages available). You will need to deposit your passport or ID, which will be returned to you after you return the audio guide. We recommend planning your route through Pompeii in advance, as the site is very large; even after 5 hours, you might not see everything.
This was Fantastic. Vacations can be stressful enough. It was great having them take care of all of the logistics for us. logistics are: a day before our trip, we were texted our rail tickets. we arrived at the train station at 7am for our 7:25am trip. we arrived in Naples at 8:30am. our tour guide met us outside of the central Naples train station at 9:45. then it was a 20 minute bus ride to Pompeii. we spent two hours in Pompeii and then we went to a city center for lunch and shopping on our own. then we went to the Herculaneum for 2 hours. after that it is a 20 minute bus ride back to the station where we had an hour before our 6pm train ride back to Rome. we arrived back in Rome at 7:15. the actual tours are incredible. Michele Maria Lamberti with Askos tours was our guide. He is not just a tour guide but a professional archeologist. His knowledge and passion for these ruins is very apparent. if you are visiting Rome and want to visit another part of Italy, you must do this tour.
Pompei is amazing! You can learn and experience what is the life of Acient Roman; alomost 99% spots are outdoor, and the road is not very easy to step-on, not recommanded for elders and kids below 10. The location of ticket redeeming is near to the south enterence and main exit, perfect location!! The staff is helping, give a detail suggestion on visiting route and famous building.
1) Meeting point very easy to find. (see photo 1, in front of the basilica) 2) Guide on the bus was informative and helpful. 3) The trip to Naples was 2h30, with one 25-minute stop in the middle, after 1h15. The trip to Naples is a bus trip, with commentary from the guide, and a photo stop over the bay. We took in our second guide in Naples, the one who later lead us through Pompeii. 4) If you choose the option with lunch included, you'll get a full pizza (choose between 3 pizza options), a salad, a drink, and ice cream for dessert. The lunch takes place in Pompeii. 5) The visit of the ruins takes 1h50, until 3.20pm roughly. It is a bit fast-paced but very interesting to do the visit with a guide, as you get many pieces of information along the way. 6) The way back home was the same, a 3-hour long trip with a stop in the middle. All in all, we would recommend.
our tour guide was nothing but amazing! thank you for making my trip to Pompeii worth it. I would recommend everyone to this day tour.
pompei is amazing. and our guide was excellent in showing us around important parts of the park. 2 hours is short though because of the many things we have to see. but we were able to explore more after the tour is over.
Our guide (group C 10.30) was excellent. she was funny knowledgeable and experienced. we had a great time.
