Ferry Ticket between Koh Lipe and Langkawi

I came to Koh Lipe from Langkawi on a one-day trip. After disembarking, I waited in a chair until immigration. They call out individual names to return passports. I don't know the waiting time. You just keep waiting until your name is called. Luckily, I was called first, perhaps because I came on a one-day trip. They asked if I had registered for entry into Thailand and told me to come back one hour before the return departure. After the immigration procedure, I paid the 200 THB entry tax, and then I was free to go. For the return procedure, I handed over my passport and the A4 paper issued in Langkawi. After that, I was given my ticket and passport, so I went through the immigration procedure and handed over my passport. Departure was at 16:00 Thai time, and 30 minutes before departure, I boarded a tail boat to move to the ship. Passports were returned on board. Instead of calling out names, they read out the country names and I had to find my passport from the bundle of passports grouped by country. At that time, I had to open other people's passports to make sure it was mine, which felt unpleasant. I was also worried that my passport would be taken, so I was scared. The return trip to Langkawi also took 1.5 hours. As a point of caution, since you are re-entering Malaysia, you must register for Malaysian entry again. Register the date of entry as the day you arrive at the terminal by boat. It is a good idea to register while staying on Koh Lipe or on the return boat. Thailand is one hour behind Malaysia in time difference. Be careful not to mistake the meeting time. The arrival time is 19:00 Malaysian time. After disembarking, there were families everywhere waiting for taxis. Since the location where you call a taxi from isn't somewhere they arrive at quickly, it's best to expect a wait.

I used this to go on a one-day trip to Koh Lipe. The boat departs at 9:30, so I went by motorbike to arrive by 8:00. You can park your motorbike in the parking area. It gets very crowded after 8:00, so I recommend arriving with plenty of time to spare. First, since I had purchased a boarding ticket in advance on Klook, I showed the voucher at the counter and handed over my passport. I waited in the waiting chairs until the procedure was completed, and then my name was called. I was given an A4 sheet to exchange for my passport and ticket, and I used that to get my ticket issued. About 40 minutes before departure, things started moving, and I went through immigration for departure and boarded the ship. The inside of the ship is divided into front and back sections. It gets quite crowded, so it's best to sit close together. Also, since people who board early get to choose their seats, I recommend that families who want to sit in a row line up early and go through immigration. There are toilets in the terminal and on the ship, but there is no toilet paper provided. Also, they are dirty, so if you are concerned, it is better to take care of it at the hotel before you come. As a precaution, it is convenient to register for entry into Thailand in advance. As of May 2025, it is now an electronic application. Malaysian entry registration is also an electronic application, so the system is the same. Those on a one-day trip can skip to the next page without entering tourist information. You can register while waiting at the terminal, but it is convenient to do it at the hotel the day before. Also, you need to register for entry into Malaysia again on the way back! If you don't, you will have to register before you can get off the ship and enter the country. I recommend registering on Koh Lipe or on the ship. The date of entry should be the date you return on the ship, so be sure to register correctly. It takes 1.5 hours to get from the terminal to Koh Lipe. The boat departed on time. On December 28th, the air conditioning inside the ship was neither too hot nor too cold, making it comfortable.

The waiting time for ticket redemption and customs procedures is not that long. However, the waiting time to board the speed boat is a bit long, especially in the hot weather. I think it’s better to sit on the upper deck because when we sat on the lower deck, we felt like we wanted to vomit so much. We needed to ride on a tailboat before transferring to the speed boat. Overall, the experience was good, and the journey was seamless.

I used the boat service from Langkawi Teleka to Koh Lipe. Immediately after booking, the boat company sent a confirmation email, which gave me peace of mind. The boat company recommends arriving at the terminal 1 hour and 30 minutes in advance, but it seems fine to arrive 1 hour before.

It takes 1.5 hours to take a big boat from Langkawi to the sea off Koh Lipe and then take a long-tail boat to the island. It's a bit thrilling. The height difference between the two boats is a bit high and you can jump off halfway. Everything else is fine.

make sure the tickets are printed out ahead to avoid the hassle of verification. it is not really a first world country so alot of patients is needed with the manual work.

just a tips for traveler: wear jacket cause reallllly cold in ferry🤣 also will be change for small boat from ferry in around 5mins distance to island. supprise experience🩷
