Tengchong Volcanic and Geothermal National Geopark

The Tengchong Volcanic Geothermal National Geological Park, located in Tengchong City, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, is a comprehensive national geological park integrating volcanic sightseeing, outdoor recreation, environmental health, geological scientific research, and popular science education. It is also a national 5A-level tourist attraction. It preserves a large-scale, complete, and concentrated volcanic landform, which fully records the history of volcanic activity over millions of years, and is hailed by tourists and scholars as a natural "Volcanic Geological Museum."

The core viewing points in the scenic area include several extinct volcanoes arranged in a line, such as Dakongshan, Xiaokongshan, and Heikongshan. Tourists can walk up the crater along the stepped path and overlook from the top of the high volcanic cone, taking in the large area of lava flows, lava platforms, and the spectacular panoramic view of the volcano. Among them, the crater of Xiaokongshan not only has a perfectly round opening, but also has a path laid around it, allowing tourists to walk around the crater and experience the beautiful meaning of "good luck coming."

In addition to conventional hiking and sightseeing, the most distinctive recreational activities here are hot air balloon rides or powered paragliding. On clear days, you can overlook the scattered craters and the vast and magnificent volcanic landforms from high above, with an extremely stunning visual effect. In addition, there is a Volcanic Geological Museum at the entrance of the scenic area, which vividly displays popular science knowledge about volcanoes through rich specimens and multimedia interactions, making it a very suitable natural exploration destination for parent-child families to learn and have fun.
