New Taipei City Art Museum

The New Taipei City Museum of Art Park, composed of the main museum building, the Xinmei Gathering Place, and the outdoor park, is a public space that integrates art, ecology, and recreation.

The lush outdoor park is a daily place for local residents to relax, stroll, and exercise. The park features rivers, sandpits, hills, and green spaces, boasting rich ecology and beautiful scenery. In addition to natural landscapes, many public art pieces are also placed throughout the park, such as "Seeds" on the North Lawn, "Opposition and Harmony" on the South Lawn, "Sound Waves" scattered throughout the park, and outdoor public art pieces like "Embryo," "Porcelain Life," and "Walking in Mud" located at the Heart of San Ying.

The Xinmei Gathering Place, located next to the main museum building, was renovated from an existing building (San Ying Art Village). It serves as a space for the museum's artist-in-residence program and diverse exhibitions and performances. In the future, it will continue to host various art and cultural activities, serving as a base for art promotion.

The New Taipei City Museum of Art building was designed by Taiwanese architect Kris Yao. It comprises two main parts: the main building and the ground-level "Xinmei Theater." The architectural design integrates humanistic and historical perspectives, emphasizing the balance between the building and the natural environment, showcasing the dialectical relationship between "modernity" and "humanity" in contemporary architecture. The design of the "Xinmei Theater" simulates the fractured shape of the Dahan Riverbed, with the main building spanning across it. Different textured walls collectively create a visual effect of penetrating volumes, allowing the museum space to flow and intertwine with the urban space, creating a public-friendly aesthetic environment.
