🌄 【Introduction to Classic Attractions of the Itinerary】 Introduction to Sanxingdui: Sanxingdui Site is located in Guanghan City, Deyang, Sichuan. It was the capital and sacrificial center of the ancient Shu Kingdom during the Shang and Zhou dynasties, dating back approximately 4500 to 3200 years. It is also the largest and most richly endowed ancient bronze civilization site in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and a national key cultural relics protection unit.
I. Excavation History In 1929, local farmers accidentally unearthed jade artifacts, and the site was first revealed; In 1986, sacrificial pits No. 1 and 2 were excavated, unearthing a large number of peculiar bronze and gold artifacts, which caused a sensation worldwide; From 2020 to 2022, 6 new sacrificial pits were excavated, unearthing tens of thousands of national treasures, filling archaeological gaps. II. Core Features Unique Ancient Shu Shamanic Civilization The artifacts are fantastically exaggerated in shape, represented by the vertical-eyed mask, the large bronze standing figure, the sacred tree connecting heaven and earth, the golden scepter, and the sun-shaped artifact. The core is the worship of heaven and earth, sun and moon, and ancestral spirits, integrating royal power and divine power. Top Ancient Craftsmanship Proficient in large-scale bronze segmented casting and gold foil hammering techniques. The number of gold and human-figure artifacts from the same period is globally rare. Evidence of a Diverse and Integrated Civilization It not only has a unique ancient Shu style but also unearthed jade zhang and bronze zun from the Central Plains, and also discovered cowrie shells from the Indian Ocean and ivory from the south, proving frequent exchanges between ancient Shu and the Yellow River basin and areas outside the south. III. Historical Significance Sanxingdui breaks the old perception of “the Central Plains as the sole ancient civilization,” proving that the Yangtze River basin and the Yellow River basin are both birthplaces of Chinese civilization. It is crucial physical evidence of the diverse and integrated pattern of Chinese civilization, hailed as a major archaeological discovery that “slept for thousands of years, and astonished the world upon awakening.”
