Guide
Scenic Area Introduction
- Daci Cliff Scenic Area is located 24 kilometers south of Jiande City. There are glittering double-sided Buddha statues on the mountain. The temple buildings halfway up the mountain are half embedded in the rock and half suspended in the air, which is similar to the Hanging Temple of Mount Heng, hence it is also known as the "Hanging Temple of Jiangnan". The scenic area everywhere embodies the character "hanging", with plank roads, temples, and large Buddhas built along the steep cliffs. Although most of them have been rebuilt, they still make people marvel at the creativity of the ancients.
Tour Route
- The tour route in the scenic area is roughly circular. To visit Daci Cliff Scenic Area, it is recommended to take the ropeway up the mountain and then walk down counter-clockwise, which saves time and effort. After going up the mountain, there are still uphill and downhill mountain roads to walk, and some places have no shade, so it can be quite sunny in summer. The fun of the entire tour is to walk along the winding plank roads by the cliff, appreciating the paths, temples, and Buddha statues embedded in the mountain, as well as the continuous green mountains in the distance below the mountain and the small towns below, creating a magnificent scene.
Hanging Plank Road
- From afar at the foot of the mountain, you can see the glittering double-sided Buddha statues on the top of the mountain. After getting off the ropeway, a short walk up the mountain leads to the hanging plank road. The plank road is a good spot to take panoramic photos of the main buildings of Daci Cliff Scenic Area, so don't miss it. After walking through the plank road, don't forget to take a close-up photo of the plank road, with its flying eaves attached to the mountainside. The corridor pavilion can also be considered a landmark of Daci Cliff Scenic Area. Continue walking for a while, and the natural standing Buddha is another feature here: from the side, the main peak of Daci Cliff Scenic Area looks exactly like a standing statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. Strange rocks, peculiar caves, and plants harmoniously combine to form the five features of the Great Buddha, and visitors invariably stop to admire it.
Temple Interior
- The double-sided Buddha and the Daci Cliff Scenic Area - Ksitigarbha Hall are major highlights. Visitors can walk along the plank road all the way to the double-sided Buddha statue to see its true appearance, or go to the Daci Cliff Scenic Area - Ksitigarbha Hall to pray for blessings. Under the cherry trees behind the Heavenly Gate, the branches are covered with red ribbons for people's prayers, exuding the serene atmosphere of a Buddhist temple. The statues in the Arhat Hall are also quite powerful. After visiting the Daci Cliff Scenic Area - Ksitigarbha Hall, exit the temple gate, and there is a path down the mountain on the right (about 30 minutes). The path is relatively hidden, so if you can't find it, you can ask the staff. The scenery on the way down the mountain is also good, with streams accompanying you. In October, when the ginkgo trees turn yellow, the scenery is even more charming. If you want to take the ropeway down the mountain, you need to return to the upper ropeway station along the original path.
- In addition, Xinyue Ancient Village, the filming location of "Dad, Where Are We Going?" in 2014, is not far from Daci Cliff Scenic Area and can be visited together. Seeing old houses, strolling through ancient villages, and experiencing "star-like" amusement projects feels very good.
