- The 2nd day of this trail involves mostly walking around Machu Picchu itself, which is accessible by bus from Aguas Calientes
- The best time to do the Short Inca Trail is the dry season, from April to October, with sunny days and lower chances of rain
- May, June, and September are ideal for stable weather and fewer crowds
- The Short Inca Trail is closed in February
- The rainy season (November to March) can make the trail slippery but is still doable with proper gear
