Eligibility
- Important: Infants and children must be included in the passenger headcount
- Free for children aged 0-5
- Children aged 0-11 must be accompanied by a paying adult
- Visitors must present a valid form of identification to confirm eligibility for free admission or discounted tickets
- Free admission is available for eligible visitors, including children under six, visitors with disabilities, ICOM members, Egyptian students and faculty in related fields, tour guides, veterans, ministry employees, journalists (with prior coordination), orphans, and school groups, with validity varying by day and requiring documentation where applicable
- Foreign spouses of Egyptians and their children are eligible to purchase the Egyptian admission pass, with proof of relationship required marriage certificate for spouses and ID or birth certificate for children
- Foreign students are eligible for the Student ticket category. It does not specify that the student must be Egyptian or attend an Egyptian university. Please present student ID together with your passport when entering the museum, as staff may verify eligibility
Additional information
- Bags, backpacks, luggage, or parcels larger than 40 x 40 cm are not allowed inside the museum and must be checked at the cloakroom. Visitors must also allow security officers to search their bags or backpacks upon entry or in any exhibition if requested
- Knives, screwdrivers, scissors, firearms, other sharp piercing items or dangerous materials are not permitted into the museum
- Do not bring umbrellas into the museum. Please leave them at the baggage check
- Do not bring folding seats or any other type of seat into the galleries unless you obtain permission from museum security
- Musical instruments are not allowed inside the museum
- Animals or pets are not allowed to enter the museum
- Do not bring any advertising banners, carry placards or signs inside the museum unless you obtain approval from museum authorities
- Please do not touch any artefacts or showcases, avoid disruptive or offensive behavior, and keep your cell phone on silent
- Audio players, flashlights, and laser pointers are not permitted anywhere in the museum
- Visitors are requested to wear appropriate attire, keep shoes on, avoid lying on seats or the floor, and follow all posted signs and staff instructions
- Students of archaeology, art, and design should act respectfully in the galleries: use only pencils for notes or sketches, avoid pens and large sketchbooks (over 46 x 62 cm), do not block other visitors, and be careful not to bump into people, display cases, or artefacts
- Private photography and video recording are allowed inside the museum after paying for tickets, but please avoid photographing other visitors or staff. Flash photography, tripods, and monopods are not permitted unless approved for commercial use, which requires prior permission and payment of applicable fees
- In emergencies such as earthquakes or fires, please follow museum staff instructions and, during an earthquake, stay clear of large sculptures, display cases, and other objects that may fall
- Please enter the museum via the main entrance (Gate 2). The Sphinx entrance is not available for standard ticket holders. Please follow the signs to the main entrance upon arrival for ticket validation and security screening
- Outside food and drinks are not allowed inside the venue
- Smoking and drinking is not allowed. You will immediately be asked to leave if caught by a staff member

You get to know a lot about the King Tuthankamhun, you go back into history and get awestruck with the life and possibilities that the king lived in. Truly mesmerising! What you see is all excavated recently and placed all together in one museum

your Cairo tour is not complete if you have not spent at least 4-5 hours inside this GEM! Be prepared for a lot of walking, and be prepared to behold the amazing artivlcles of King Tut’s tomb and many many other marvels of Egyptian history.

The building's exterior is magnificent, and the collection is very, very rich. Moreover, the biggest difference from other museums in Egypt is that the artifacts are well-protected and exhibited, not like a warehouse. The two days a week with extended closing hours are a great boon for travelers, after all, with such full daily schedules, it's really hard to free up an entire day to visit a museum.

One of the best experiences in Egypt. The Grand Museum is really grand. If you are really into history and have fascination towards Egyptian civilisation then hiring a guide is recommended. Otherwise there is plenty to see. Don't miss the children's section if travelling with kids. They will love it. The best part was Tutankhamen's section. Do visit the boat museum and have good lunch in the food court.

Booked the Grand Egyptian Museum ticket through Klook, and everything went smoothly. No issues with the ticket redemption, and entry was straightforward.
The museum is absolutely stunning; modern, grand, and well worth the visit. The architecture alone is impressive, and the exhibits are beautifully displayed. Even if you're not a history enthusiast, the experience is still enjoyable because of how well the museum is designed.
Plan to spend at least 3-4 hours here, as there's a lot to explore.

really nice seeing the history of Egypt through this tour. we had a guide so she was able to explain a lot of the history of each figure and section. the king tut mask is basically the Mona Lisa equivalent but very rich history nonetheless. definitely a must-go since they already moved all the items from the old museum to here.

Easy to redeem, there is a special line for online booked ticket and there was no queue at all. Booked with klook vouchers and it was cheaper than buying there, recommended!!
