Reviews
Great sharing by the instructor. He is effectively bilingual and taught with a good sense of humour to make learning more enjoyable. The staff members were very accomodating and could sense their eagerness to create a warm enivronment for learning. Well done, Visual Arts Centre!
I would think its more for experience only. If you are really interested, you will need to go for more comprehensive classes. Even the most basic strokes, you will need time to learn. Its a place mixed with other art classes since there is less than 10 people attending for that session. Instructor is nice and helpful but you need to be proactive if you want to learn more.
There were adequate supplies and overall a fun experience. Class size was quite big and with only 2 instructors. So it’s less hands on and more self-guided. If you wanted help you had to proactively reach out.
Very insightful, kick start the fundamental on how to write calligraphy. For basic learners very beneficial.
Teachers (x2) are nice. Easy to approach. Maybe teachers to student ratio can be smaller?
this is an experiential class at best . the class was way too packed and cramped with >20 students and only 2 teachers going around . you’re left to. though the teachers are helpful when you request for help, you’re largely left to figure out on your own with little correction of your strokes . both teachers also had different ways of stroking which can be difficult to follow . importantly , there were way too many words cramped into 2 hours with limited supervision and you’re all rushed into completing a chun lian with the worst possible handwriting at the end of 2 hrs . I was also made to squeeze at the corner of a table with barely enough space to maneuver
Went to the visual arts centre on 4nov25(Tue) for the Chinese calligraphy class. Was told by the staff that there was no such class, they only conduct classes on Sundays ! 😡
painting brush was in poor condition
