Reviews
My partner and I had the opportunity to work alongside our teacher Sasaki, she was very knowledgeable and detail oriented. We made Christmas themed Daifukumochi today, followed by a matcha green tea ceremony. The place was clean, and easy to find. We had a lot of fun! Definitely recommend!
We had such a great time during this class, a must do if you have a spare 2 hours! The instructor was very friendly and we had interesting conversation as we made our sweets and matcha. It is worth doing both activities together so that you can enjoy your sweets with the matcha.
Tea Ceremony and Japanese Sweets Making Class was such a memorable experience. The class began with making traditional Japanese sweets (nerikiri) using authentic ingredients like white and red bean paste sourced from Kyoto’s long-established shops. Afterwards, we moved on to the tea ceremony. The instructors Sasaki-san were incredibly knowledgeable and patient, explaining the history behind each ingredient, movement, utensil, and gesture. The entire experience felt immersive and genuine. I left not only with beautiful sweets and matcha, but also with a deeper appreciation for Japanese tradition and hospitality.
The course leader was very friendly; we learnt a lot, and it was a nice change to have a go at making something by hand ourselves.
The instructor was so kind and patient to me! We tried our best speaking the other' language, luckily the instructor's English was better than my Japanese so I was able to understand her instructions. I learned alot about matcha and the etiquette involved in drinking it. I enjoyed the experience and I'm glad I was able to learn more about Japanese culture.
My husband and I had a wonderful time making seasonal sweets and having a tea ceremony with our cheerful teacher. She did an excellent job accommodating us in English and was so funny while being very informative. Highly recommend for a fun experience of Japanese culture while visiting!
The instructor was very patient in explaining the history and significance of Japanese tea ceremony and sweets. Although the class was mainly taught in Japanese, the instructor did their best to explain to us in English, which was very appreciated!
patient and helpful teaching staff. sure success at the end.
The teacher explained everything very carefully, and both the wagashi and tea ceremony were very interesting.
