What to expect

Xi'an City Wall, located in Beilin District, Xi'an, is the most complete ancient city wall existing in China. It was initially built in the second year of the Kaihuang period of the Sui Dynasty, based on the imperial city wall of Daxing City in the Sui Dynasty, and was repaired and expanded in the Tang, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. The city wall has a circumference of 13.74 kilometers and a height of 12 meters, forming a horizontally rectangular shape. There are 18 existing city gates, with the main city gate consisting of a gate tower, arrow tower, barbican, and other components, forming a tight defense system. The wall is made of rammed earth inside and brick outside, and also has a scientific drainage system. Strolling along the city wall allows you to enjoy the scenery of Xi'an and experience the vicissitudes of a thousand years of history. It is a landmark building and historical and cultural icon of the ancient city of Xi'an.
