[A Day Trip of Great Satisfaction! A Perfect Encounter with Oarai Isosaki Shrine, Nakaminato Fish Market, and Hitachi Seaside Park]
First Stop: Oarai Isosaki Shrine Stepping into the shrine felt like traveling through time. The tranquil air was filled with the faint scent of pine. I silently made a small wish in my heart. My soul found an unprecedented sense of peace and purification. Walking along the approach, each step echoed with history, feeling the harmonious coexistence of ancient and modern. 👣
Second Stop: Nakaminato Fish Market Wow! Walking into the market was simply a paradise for seafood lovers! Fresh king crabs 🦀, plump oysters 🦪, and colorful schools of fish swimming happily in the water… everything was mouth-watering!
Third Stop: Hitachi Seaside Park In the afternoon, we drove to Hitachi Seaside Park, where a splendid sea of flowers awaited us! Pink cherry blossoms, golden canola flowers, and cosmos swaying in the breeze… every step was a scenic view, every glance a painting. 🌼
Special Note: Hitachi Seaside Park features different flowers blooming in each of the four seasons, and the best viewing periods vary for each flower species. Flower growth conditions may be affected by the natural environment, and actual flower conditions may differ from promotional photos. The best viewing period for Nemophila at Hitachi Seaside Park is from late April to late May each year.

Reviews
Since it was nemophila season at Hitachi Seaside Park, and traveling there independently from Tokyo would be quite inconvenient, I decided to book a Klook day tour. Our guide was Elsa, a soft-spoken Chinese girl. The journey from Tokyo took about two hours, and our first stop was Oarai Isosaki Shrine and its torii gate by the sea. The shrine has over a thousand years of history, and its outer courtyard offers a serene view. A long staircase leads down to the sea, where you can see the torii gate. Elsa helped us take some beautiful photos! Afterwards, we went to Nakaminato Fish Market for lunch. The market isn't very big, but even though it was a weekday, there were many tourists, and we waited a long time in line for lunch! We almost missed our meeting time, so we asked Elsa to help us communicate, and she even assisted us with picking up our food. We were very grateful to her! The last stop was the main event: the nemophila flower fields. Hitachi Seaside Park is vast, so we paid extra to take the park tram to the flower fields, where we took many photos and explored. It was truly spectacular and beautiful! We were fortunate to have a wonderful guide and fellow tour members. Everyone gathered on time, and we all rested quietly on the bus, enjoying a pleasant day together!
We received a notification email the day before, and the overall tour experience was quite good. However, on the day of departure, at the meeting point, the tour guide arrived late, right at the scheduled meeting time. Although not technically late, it was still anxiety-inducing not to find the guide immediately upon arrival. I suggest that the tour guide arrive at the meeting point a bit earlier. Fortunately, the guide's explanations were very good. Guides from other groups were already standing there, looking for their members.
The itinerary was well-planned, and our tour guide, Elsa, was very kind and responsible. We were grateful it didn't rain that day, allowing us to capture beautiful photos of the blue nemophila flower fields. (The only minor drawback was during lunchtime; many restaurants at the seafood market were closed, yet there were many tourists. As a result, we couldn't eat at a restaurant and only managed to grab some snacks.)
the tour was nice, our tour guide name “KO” is so nice and very approachable..❤️
We booked this trip specifically for the nemophila flowers, and they were incredibly spectacular and beautiful. Although there were a lot of people, we still managed to take many great photos. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the Nakaminato Fish Market, which we visited at lunchtime. It was extremely crowded (mostly with Japanese tourists), and we had to wait in line for at least 20 minutes for everything. We then noticed that Hitachi Seaside Park had many food stalls, offering everything from main dishes to desserts and drinks. In hindsight, it would have been better to skip the fish market entirely and spend all our time, including lunch, at Hitachi Seaside Park. That would have been the best arrangement for us as visitors.
very nice tour, I just went off season so I didn't get to see the kochias, the tour guide was very accommodating and recommended good spots to eat in the market
The flowers in Japan bloom very punctually. The best time to see the Kochia scoparia is in early to mid-October. I want to go again next year. The prices at the seafood market stalls are on the higher side, but the local product shops are well-stocked and worth recommending. The freshly shucked oysters are very fresh, and 5 for 1000 is a good deal.
It was a very enjoyable trip. Although we didn't see fields of flowers because it was the wrong season, Hitachi Seaside Park itself is beautiful, and cycling through the park was very relaxing. You absolutely must try the freshly shucked oysters at Nakaminato Fish Market; they are incredibly sweet and fresh. Our tour guide, Cora, was very kind and highly recommended.
We had a good day trip. The shrine was average, the fish market was average too. The main attraction was the park. we saw the bushes turning red. We suggest renting bikes (only 600 yen for 3 hours) since it's quite a large area to cover. We ended up walking to the bushes first then found a stall to rent at another entrance but that shop said we had to go all the way back to them. In hindsight wish we rented the bikes right at the beginning. Our guide Wanting was great. Good communication.
It was a very impressive trip, and the guide provided excellent service. When we visited, the garden was planting flowers, around June 8th. It was a memorable trip; the seafood was delicious, fresh, and very affordable. It was a worthwhile trip.
