Fuyuan National Forest Recreation Area Tickets

• Fuyuan National Forest Recreation Area is traversed by the Fuyuan River and features a network of trails around the mountains. At its deepest point are the Longyin Suspension Bridge, Fuyuan Suspension Bridge, and Longyin Waterfall, offering a tranquil environment.
• Integrating bird watching, butterfly watching, forest bathing, and hot springs, it provides visitors with diverse recreational experiences.

Departing from Hualien City, it takes just over an hour to reach Fuyuan National Forest Recreation Area, also known as "Butterfly Valley." The area near here was once the eastern terminus of the "Guanmen Ancient Trail" in the Qing Dynasty. It currently boasts a large 40-year-old camphor tree plantation, which is beautiful and pleasant. The primary forest features representative tree species of low-altitude forests such as Lagerstroemia subcostata and Sloanea formosana, and the abundant epiphytes add to the beauty of an Avatar-like forest.

Located in the foothills of the Central Mountain Range, the park is rich in bird resources and is a well-known bird watching destination in Hualien, including the Hualien County bird, the Formosan paradise flycatcher, the Taiwan barbet, the Narcissus flycatcher, the Formosan blue magpie, the Grey-chinned minivet, and the Crested serpent eagle that occasionally circles the sky. In addition, every spring and summer (March to August) is the best time for butterfly watching, and the diverse butterfly resources have earned it the beautiful name of "Butterfly Valley." The park's humid and unpolluted environment makes Fuyuan's fireflies diverse. Luciola cerata from March to June and Pyrocoelia analis from October to December take turns appearing, and in recent years it has become a popular spot for firefly watching in Taiwan.
