Tokyo to Nikko Day Tour | Tosho-gu Shrine & Irohazaka Slope & Lake Chuzenji & Kegon Falls Day Tour (Departing from Tokyo)

Ko was our guide today and he was fantastic! I got a message from him the night before, on WhatsApp, for our tour with a picture of his face which was incredibly helpful for the meeting place in the morning as there is a lot of guides in that area. He spoke very well english and we learned a lot about the temple and Nikko! he was very kind and informed us how long we had at each location and showed us where the free viewing area is for the waterfall. If you get Ko for your guide, you will not be disappointed! Nikko itself was super incredible and has been the highlight of our trip to Japan so far! I strongly recommend visiting!

We had a lovely day out exploring Nikko and it’s charms. The excursion was so well planned out with more than enough time to enjoy each location. Our guide’s English was not particularly great so we didn’t really get too much information but his managing skills running the times for the tour were spot on. The starting point of the day is about 2:30 hs away from Tokyo, there is a quick loo stop in a beautiful lake, then plenty of time for lunch by the waterfall and the jewel of the day is the Toshogu Temple.

A must-to-go trip. Beautiful scenery especially the Kegon fall and Shinkyo bridge. Toshogu shrine visit was good too. Along the way to these sites, we passed by Irohazaka which makes me think of the race scene in Initial D movie. Our tour guide, Yuma, was very fluent in English and friendly.

The tour was amazing. Loved all the sights we got to see. And our guide Dale made sure that we were comfortable and told much about the places that we would go to. Definitely would recommend going to Nikko, this is something you don't want to miss.

Out tour to Nikko today was wonderful. so much beautiful history. Ko, our tour guide made things easy.. he sent a photo of himself and where to meet the night before to us. Gave good history information. Helped direct us to locations of sights. I highly recommend this tour to everyone.

Very nice experience! one of the highlights of my trip. Dale was very accommodating and gives very clear instructions. One suggestions is to extend the stay in the Chuzenji Lake rather than spend like 3 hours in the Toshogu shrine. The Shrine was huge and wherever you turn, there is some interesting thing to see. Downside is that it has no focal point. You are left wandering around. The Kegon falls is amazing! Truly incredible. Overall, this trip is recommended.

The tour was such an experience, especially for some one like me who coming to Japan for the first time. The tour guide Yuma san was incredibly friendly and helpful during the entire trip. I got to learn a lot of history about Nikko, It's town, It's shrine, as well as a fun little Japanese language fact on the way to the location. I look forward to joining any future trips with Yuma san or her associates. めっちゃ楽しかったです！

Amazing experience, tour guide is kind and helpful, advised us of cooler weather in Nikko and to dress warmly. It actually snowed that day. At the end of the tour, reminded us to have a warm bath to avoid getting sick. Nikko is beautiful, would highly recommend this day tour!

This one-day tour to Nikko was a fantastic experience. Our tour guide, Jeffrey Wang, not only managed the schedule and the order of sightseeing spots wonderfully, but he also provided clear explanations of the attractions, history, and the absolute must-see highlights of Tosho-gu Shrine. In particular, he led us to line up for the 'Crying Dragon' first so we could experience it right away, and he also gave us an introductory guide on the bus for the 'Sleeping Cat,' the 'Three Wise Monkeys,' 'Yomeimon Gate,' and more. Since it was a joint tour, the guide had to repeat every explanation in Chinese, Japanese, and English. He truly worked hard, and I give Guide Jeffrey Wang my highest recommendation. Because of him, my one-day trip to Nikko left a deeper impression and gave me a much better understanding of the area.

A one-day trip is a bit rushed. It took about 2.5 hours to drive from Shinjuku to Lake Chuzenji, our first stop, and about two hours for the return trip. Kegon Falls might have been affected by the season; the actual view was quite different from what I expected. You could say it was energy-saving and carbon-reducing, minimalist, or perhaps more refined. Our tour guide, Michael, shared interesting facts about the history of Toshogu Shrine and the Irohazaka Winding Road during the journey. If you want to explore Nikko thoroughly, I would recommend planning a two-day trip.
