Reviews

The experience at the Hunan Museum this time was excellent. After the explanation, Xiao Zhou was very responsible, and her explanation was very clear. I highly recommend participating in this experience.

  • Appreciate cultural relics from Mawangdui Han Tombs
  • Hunan Museum has a rich collection of cultural relics, and those from Mawangdui Han Tombs are particularly distinctive. The Mawangdui Han Tombs exhibition is a basic exhibition of the Hunan Museum. In the exhibition hall, there are plain gauze garments as thin as cicada wings, perfectly preserved printed cotton robes, various exquisite and beautiful embroideries, brightly colored painted lacquerware, as well as delicate painted silk paintings, rich silk books, finely carved wooden figurines, and musical instruments such as guqin, se, and sheng, and weapons.
  • Also on display are the female corpse and her internal organs preserved in the basement, a reconstructed giant coffin, and the No. 3 tomb pit and No. 2 burial mound preserved at the Mawangdui site. More than 3,000 precious cultural relics were unearthed from the three Han tombs at Mawangdui, most of which are well preserved. There is a plain gauze garment, as thin as a cicada's wing, 1.28 meters long, with long sleeves, weighing only 49 grams, demonstrating extremely superb weaving skills. More than 100,000 characters of silk books and lost books were unearthed from Tomb No. 3. The topographic map unearthed from Han Tomb No. 2 has drawing techniques that are largely similar to modern maps and is highly praised.
